  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello. I am separating from the Army and moving from Hawaii to Missouri. When we move, we need to buy a new SUV and after extensive test drives, the Telluride is the one we want. I hope to special order one while we are finishing out our last few months here on the island. Trying to find a dealership that will do that for us has been tricky.

Appreciate your service. There’s plenty of dealers out there that will take your order. Look around the area where you will be relocating. Kia of Muncie in Indiana is a great dealership

Thank you for your service. Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! What might the Telluride be replacing for you?

We have a 2009 Sienna. It has been a great car but has over 200k miles and not worth the price to ship back to the mainland. Taking six weeks to find a car has been perfect because no one wants to ride along with us for our test drives due to COVID. I will look at the boards for suggested dealerships. I am in contact with my soon to be local dealership but they seem hesitant because it might get there before I do and they don't want it sitting on the lot. I told them my sister lives in the area and I could sign the paperwork and she could pick it up. They still seem hesitant.

@Wacat:

Thank you for your service !!

You've come to the right place.

If you have a few months, that's good because the wait in line for Tellurides at the best dealerships can be long.

Demand is still high, and supply of the AWD in the top trims EX/SX is still constrained by the KMMG in West Point, Georgia that's pumping out Tellurides over multiple shifts per day but still not able to pace demand.

Dealerships receive a handful of "allocations" every mid-month for certain high-demand trims (e.g. AWD, SX, Prestige Package w/ the amazing Dune Brown Nappa Leather seats w/ dark gray premium cloth microfiber headliner/A-pillars) and that's why orders get picked up by KFOS a few at a time from each dealership that allows a small deposit to save a spot in line, and the waiting list line moves slowly.

If you have the patience to go this route, possibly wait months, watching multiple Telluride videos and getting really into this Forum, then you'll have a great experience waiting for the moment that your time arrives, you get to the front of the line at your selected dealership, they get an allocation for the Telly you want, and order gets picked up and Kia posts a VIN and a window sticker for your car.

Things move quickly after that.

I put down a deposit in mid-August 2020 to get in line to order a Telluride from a local dealership and it took months for the Kia Forward Ordering System (KFOS) to pick up the order because there were so many customers waiting ahead of me and I finally moved to the head of the line at the end of October or early November, VIN was posted by Kia on November 13th and the Telly arrived at the dealership on December 1st. Took her home December 2nd. :)

I've heard that lines are longer now than they were when I went through the waiting process last year, especially with good dealerships that take deposits and charge MSRP + tax/title/license, which is the best deal you're going to be able to get.

Some other dealerships have Tellurides on the lot but have an additional dealer markup that some customers are paying for in order to not have to wait in line for months to get a chance to order.

What were you thinking as far as desired specs?

AWD?

FWD?

Trim level?

Exterior color?

Interior color? (if you go Prestige Package, dive deep into this thread for a great-looking interior option, exclusive only to Prestige Package custom orders: Dune Brown Interior Feedback ;)

Thank you again for your service to our country and good luck getting the Telluride you want !!

I let my wife pick out the car. We have decided on a SX AWD. She wants Sangria for the exterior color (she likes red) which greatly limits our interior choices to just black and gray. She wants to go with the gray for the interior.
