• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The only reason I'm considering the SX is for the mirror cameras. Do you find them useful? Interstate around here is 8 lanes, but only test drove the EX.

It’s a nice fallback when driving and using your turn signal (to verify the lane is empty after your own eyes and the blind spot monitor radar has already declared the lane empty).

The cameras are even more helpful in tight parking and maneuvering situations, and help make up the 360° camera system, which is very convenient.

BSVM is particularly useful when you are getting on an on ramp and trying to switch multiple lanes to get to the fast lane.

I exclusively look at the blindspot warning on my heads up display (SXP) instead of looking for that little orange indicator on my side mirrors when I am thinking about changing lanes for regular driving.

Also as Bruesjoh mentioned, 360 SVM is a super useful tool in many parking situations. Especially if you need to pull into tight spaces or want to make sure you are centered in your parking spot.

Thank you for the quick replies. Have a deposit down on SX I guess I'll keep it. Cheaper than getting new rims if 360 helps wife not curb them!

Prior to purchase, I would have assumed the blind spot cameras would be one of the more exciting features. In reality, I actually find the cameras to be not particularly useful at all. I suspect this is mostly due to the their placement on the instrument cluster. Looking down at video while getting ready to change or changing lanes is not a particularly comfortable feeling for me.

I would list the usefulness of blind spot monitoring features in this order. HUD, warning beep, mirror indicators and lastly the cameras.

However, as already mentioned the cameras are also part of the 360 view capability and this makes parking extremely easy once you get the hang of it. Those mirror cameras are worth it for this alone, especially if you find yourself having to parallel park often.

Still enjoying my SXP but I’ve definitely changed my mind on certain features once I was able to use them in practice. This is one example.

Thanks. I didn't realize that was an option in the HUD. I've since turned the option on. Nice.

There is a blind spot for short people driving the cat, and dangerous, doing a left turn from drivers seat the hood and the windshield left post are in the way
ESPecially at night.
seat raise is no help for the wife, she is 5' 4" don't tell me to get a cushion !!!!!!
Can the cameras be employed to help during a left turn especially when the road you are turning onto has an island and no street lights??
Stray

Those cameras don’t have that function

Hey everybody!

I’ve got a 21 Telluride Nightfall edition w/ prestige pkg and me and the family are really enjoying it!

I think it is a great vehicle but I am getting a little bit disappointed with the knowledge of the local dealer service reps with the Telluride.

The most recent experience I’m having is part of the Blind Spot Monitoring System that isn’t working - the camera view on the center of the instrument panel that comes on with the turn signal.

I am being told it doesn’t come on the Telluride, but I thought it was a standard feature from everything I’ve read/seen.

Am I losing my mind or misunderstanding this feature or is it a standard feature that isn’t working?

I sure would appreciate any insight from you guys!

Big thanks!!!

You have an EX or SX?

If you have an SX, do you have the feature turned on?

User settings > driver assistance > blind spot safety > blind spot view… make sure it is checked and enabled.

Wow, thanks for the super quick reply!

I’ve got a SX. Yep, the “Blind Spot View” is checked. Thanks for making sure, because I sure have been known to be the source of a many “user errors” in the past!

Another “funny” part of the story... While I was waiting on the 7500 Service to be completed, I pulled up an online video of that system and showed it to the service advisor. He said he had no idea it had that feature!

He still swears it shouldn’t be working on my Telluride...

I sure thank you for your quick response and look forward to any insight you might have...

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update.

After three Kia dealers, it's still not fixed!

Two of the three even insisted that feature didn't come on the Telluride. The other one didn't have the time to look at it. With the two that insisted it didn't have it, it was quite "funny" when I pulled up the online Kia videos to show them. I had one service advisor even take me out to the lot to show me it wasn't on any of theirs and guess what? To his great surprise when he activated the turn signal, up popped the video camera view in the instrument cluster!

Unfortunately, I'm driving it back to the dealer I purchased it from (about 100 mi. one way) to see if they can fix it or I might consider using the state "lemon law" to return it. I can't even tell you how much time I've wasted on trying to get someone to fix this...

Has anyone else had such bad luck with Kia Dealers or is it just me?

ps - sorry for venting, I really like this car but I have had one bad experience after the other with Kia service departments..... Did I tell you about the tow hitch install? o_O I'll save that for another time....
