Ordered our Gravity Gray SX Nightfall on Sept 19th. We went in knowing full well that it could take a while; but there was too much value to not be patient and we really loved the look out of all other three rows that don't carry a German price tag.

Finally! The day had come (6 months later!) that we received the phone call that it was in and we could pick it up in 2 days. That was March 6th. Here we are nearly 3 weeks later and we STILL do not have our Telly.

Why, you ask? Well, apparently they found a piece of metal in one of the tires. So they need to order a new tire. This is the DFW Metroplex mind you; I could have the exact tire delivered to the dealership in less than 2 hours. Deep breath, stay patient. 3 days later I call to check on progress; to which he says "It's in the body shop, let me go check with the manager of that dept."

"Body shop!? Why's it in the body shop? Was there more extensive damage than just a piece of metal in the tire?"

Apparently the front bumper was also damaged by "something" on the carrier. Naturally it's the only vehicle that was damaged. So they are awaiting a KIA inspector to come and assess damage, approve new bumper and wheel/tire, order from factory, perform repairs, await inspector again to ensure it's up to standard, and THEN I can come get my vehicle.

The ordering/receiving of the parts and actual work to repair should take no more than 24 hours. The biggest hold up is the getting the inspector there (twice).

What's frustrating to myself and my salesman (whom I do not blame for any of this), is that the inspector has no incentive to perform this in a timely fashion. What does he care; he's not making any money off sale and if I back out, he knows it will get sold almost immediately anyways to someone else.

Then there's the topic of "should I even buy it" knowing that technically it's been damaged. Should I ask for a bit of a reduced price?

Sounds like it was damaged by the carrier so I doubt the dealership is going to budge on the price; technically it wasn’t their fault. They should have been a little more upfront with the damages as in they should have contacted you when they noticed. Bad on them. Just hang in there and I would call Kia and start hammering their ear about this inspector.

Sorry you have to go through this. The issue seems to be that the parts for this car is hard to get. People end up waiting long time to get even the smallest replacement parts.

As far as the damage, it isn't that uncommon. I know of people that took delivery of a brand new Lexus LS after it had its front bumper replaced. I believe if it's done before you take delivery it doesn't hit carfax.

Unambiguously ask for a discount. You don't have to worry about who did it: the dealer, the manufacturer and their contractors have to sort things out among themselves.

You probably saw my topic regarding a similar situation, so many do not care about painting, but:

1 - adhesion, repair paint is very fragile. The chips will be large.
2 - Color - If it is a complex color, the bumper will be different.
3 - Shagreen - a light tone in the sun will look like an orange peel.
4- Recording in history - it all depends on the shop, someone sends, someone does not.

@Tucker020 , If you've seen my topic, my new car needs repainting: bumper, door, rear fender. According to the automotive expert, this reduces the car cost by 10% -15%.

Haven’t seen it yet. Will go find it here shortly.

1 - The build quality spoils all the positive experiences.

Update: 5 weeks since it arrived to dealership damaged. Still nothing. I asked for pics, never got them. Salesman said service manager would contact me a week ago, never heard from him.
Told them yesterday that they could keep it and got my deposit back. Drove home with my 2021 Lincoln Aviator Reserve 1 monochrome Pristine White.
So if you receive a call from Moritz Kia in Hurst about a Gravity Gray NFP that “just came available”, just know it’s been damaged.

Congratulations on the new thing.
And your telluride dealer will sell very quickly, and the buyer will not really care what he paid for a new one, but bought a battered one. there are many fools, that's why it turns out that way.

Understand your frustrations. I'm sure they had plenty of Lincoln's to choose from based on almost every review I have read. I looked at Lincoln before buying my Kia. No where near the value.

Looks nice! A couple of people I know have Aviators and they love them. Hope you have a positive experience. With discounts, probably not much more than the NFP. I think Aviators seats are much more comfortable, the sound is better and the engine is powerful.

This isn’t a comparison post. Of course the Telluride has great value. There’s a reason we waited 6 months and being jerked around for an extra month with no end in sight before telling them to kick rocks. Not sure what reviews you are reading since Edmonds gives it a 7.7 (out of 10) and KBB gives it a 4.2 (out of 5). I agree the Black Label is way overpriced, but the Reserve (with luxury package) is about spot on for what you would expect to pay for everything the packages have to offer. I understand this is a Telluride forum, so I get you defending your purchase....don’t have to shit on mine in the process. I started this thread a couple of weeks ago to hopefully get some advice and direction for the dilemma. Tonight’s comment was just to bring closure to it, and hopefully warn an unsuspecting buyer of what they may be getting. Since I have done that, no need for me to be on this forum any longer. Best of luck to all of you.

You can take from CR what you want, no, they aren't perfect. You obviously were checking reviews like these which took you to Kia. I think CR is a good tool for comparison at least. The Lincoln scored less than half of what the Telluride did. I am guessing for more money? Your beef anyway is with the dealership and I wish it would of gone better, seriously.

I wonder if they sold your vehicle to highest bidder and gave you the BS all this time.

I think that may have happened or they sold it by mistake and were hoping to get another one.
