Maybe my wording wasn't the best. Yes 16K is big for a new one but $12,600 markup for a used one with over 15K miles is just astounding.KIA Cerritos is SoCal has a markup of 16k... over 60k for market adjustment.

Sold my car on Carvana, didn't do the long distance trade in. Got waaaayyy more than any dealer would give me. I got $5200+ for a 9 year old Honda with over 217k miles!! I didn't want to drive 12 hours to pick up new Telly and add 800 miles to my old car, knowing dealer wouldn't have given me much for trade in. I would have been stuck accepting their low ball trade offer. How do you handle a trade in negotiation with these long-distance purchases?
Oh that's worse!Maybe my wording wasn't the best. Yes 16K is big for a new one but $12,600 markup for a used one with over 15K miles is just astounding.
Tell him to call me. I bought my car at Kia of Muncie and I'll be happy to show him my bill of sale. There's probably a few hundred of us on here that could dispute him...and I too, know the dealership personally!!Sales Manager at Auto Park Kia of Wendell NC charging 2500 markup and insisting that anyone charging less is a trick and/or scam, including specifically Muncie ("It's just a trick, I'm the sales manager here and I know that dealership personally").
These folks are so exhausting.
I don't have any problem with charging a markup, but don't twist everything sideways. Awful business practices and I hate so many people are profiting off this shadiness.
Like @Kao said, Kia of Muncie is absolutely real & has put many on this forum in a Telluride. That Sales Mgr is full of #@&x. Don't reward people like that with your hard earned $$$. That was EXACTLY my experience, except flew from NC . Actually had flight delays and cancellations and Lucas gave me his Home phone number and personal cell phone to keep him aprised of all my flight changes. WHO DOES THAT IN TODAY'S WORLD?!?! Lucas, at Kia of Muncie!!! Ended up arriving 18 hours later and still was picked up by Fred and driven to Muncie. Lucas had my car ready, spent all the time I needed learning about it, got UVO set up, meet with Craig, signed paperwork and was on my way home. BEST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER!!! So WE know this dealership, not some putz who's trying to bully you into buying his overpriced car.Like @Kao said, Kia of Muncie is absolutely real & has put many on this forum in a Telluride. In the ever pretentious Northern Virginia, ALL local dealers are imposing their "market adjustment" of $5k-$10k OVER MSRP. No thanks! This forum led me to Lucas Boehm @ Kia of Muncie (IN), a dealership that honors the Costco Auto Program pricing. I ordered with Lucas late Sept 2020, then changed my order during Dec 2020. Did I have to wait approx 6 months? Yes, I did, but Lucas told me this upfront. The wait was not a problem for me. Others may pay over MSRP, & that's their call, but not I quacked the duck. Fast forward......today, I flew from Dulles, VA, to Indianapolis. I was met at the airport by Kia of Muncie's Fred Taylor & whisked to the dealership. THANK YOU, Fred. Upon arrival I was met by Lucas, who showed me all the features of the vehicle & made sure everything was as expected. THANK YOU, Lucas. Finally, Craig Sutherland quickly handled the financial transaction (no financing) & had me on my way. THANK YOU, Craig. Bottom line....FIRST CLASS. FIRST CLASS. FIRST CLASS. An exceptional experience. Give these folks your business!
KIA has publicly shared their annual build targets of the Telluride. And 40k makes zero sense - none. Until KIA corporate announces their 2022 plans, I’d not put any stock in this - IMHO.Just got this email from a dealer in Columbus... I asked for a black or gray SX prestige. He says they are only making 40,000 Tellurides this year? That can't be right....
"Hi this is Bill from Byers, I'll put you on the waiting list for that trim level and color, Kia has a limited production of 40,000 Tellurides this model year."
It's funny. As of today this car has been sitting on the Phil Smith Kia's lot for 2 months now.If you're in South Florida, avoid Phil Smith Kia in Light House Point.
They have several SXP and SXP NF. Nice friendly folks great you on the phone and invite you out to the dealership.
Once your there and find the Telluride you'd like, your quickly told you can not test drive it.
You can test drive a demo but not the "actual" one you'd like to buy.
After some back and forth, the sales manager agrees to allow me the "privilege" of a test drive if we first agree to pricing.
I asked for his best price and was greeted with a $10k markup. I laughed and told them to screw off. I asked him if he thought I loaded up my wife and 4 kids to drive an hour to a dealership to play games for a Telluride that been on his lot for a month. Total prick move.
As of writing this, that same Wolf Grey SXP NF has been on the lot for almost 6 weeks weeks. So clearly, they aren't flying off the lot as they believe.
Does it include shipping?Found a dealership that will sell at MSRP only for in state customers. Charging $2000 if you live out of state. Is that even legal?
Nope. and they won't help with finance. You have to bring your own.Does it include shipping?![]()
Do they even have any models on the lot, or would you still have to order and wait?Nope. and they won't help with finance. You have to bring your own.
Today it shows they have 14.Do they even have any models on the lot, or would you still have to order and wait?
I'm in Georgia. Every dealership so far here has had anywhere from $5K to $13K in markup. I'm literally searching the entire US to find what I want at MSRP trying to avoid having to order and wait.Today it shows they have 14.
I am in Florida doing the same thing. One way tickets are cheap.I'm in Georgia. Every dealership so far here has had anywhere from $5K to $13K in markup. I'm literally searching the entire US to find what I want at MSRP trying to avoid having to order and wait.
I will jump on a plane and drive back home across the country if I have to.![]()
