Order to delivery time

Unfortunately, while Hyundai/KIA stock piled 6 months of chips when other manufacturers cancelled orders of chips, that inventory is close to being exhausted, perhaps June 2021. Car makers are low on the depth chart with chip producers, unlike Apple ect.

The world's largest chip manufacturer, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), said on Sunday that it thinks it will be able to catch up with automotive demand by June.
But Patrick Armstrong, CIO of Plurimi Investment Managers, told CNBC "Street Signs Europe" on Tuesday, that the timeline is highly ambitious.
"If you listen to Ford, BMW, Volkswagen, they all highlighted that there's bottlenecks in capacity and they can't get the chips they need to manufacture the new cars," he said, adding that he thinks it will go on for 18 months.

My
Ordered 3/29, Talked to the salesman today, gave me the chip shortage is affecting KIA production excuse, said probably another couple of months. Stupid us put a non refundable deposit down because a body is the detail manager and vouched for the dealership. I'm getting the feeling this dealer, which is a low volume, doesn't completely know what they are doing, or they are just bullshitting as I have mentioned KFOS a couple of times and he completely disregards answering if our order was accepted or not. Fairly certain its going to be a 22 at this point, did get him to agree they will refund our deposit if there is a large jump in MSRP and we don't want it at that point.
dealer is exactly same thing. I ordered mine same day as you. They have No idea when mine will arrive.

I ordered my SX on March 18th and no Vin yet, the dealer claims there are computer chip manufacturing problems but I'm not sure if that's an excuse or not.
I ordered ( SX AWD Pre ) way back in November and 2 weeks ago, received an ETA of June 7 I have noticed several buyers who ordered after me ( same model) and have picked up their cars
salesman delay in placing the order, late to be picked-up in KFOS, problems with color and interior ? who's knows

On May 6th I contacted a local dealer via email inquiring about ordering a 2022 SXP - AWD. We spoke on the phone that afternoon. I was given several pieces of information to include a three month delivery window on average. The dealer sent me a proposal, which included the vehicle price, my trade in value and monthly payment options. I agreed to the proposal. Because 2022 prices are not yet released, the quoted price was based on 2021 model year prices. The dealer said that they assume only a slight bump in price between '22 and '21. Once they know the price, I can place a $500 deposit to order the vehicle. For now, they placed me on a waiting list. I want to be optimistic that I will receive the vehicle this year; however, the dealer's term "wait list", chip shortages and horror stories of other peoples' wait times has me seriously doubting it. I don't think getting someone to take my money has ever been so hard.

Any “proposal” is basically worthless, certainly your trade in value and interest rates will be different by the time your Telluride arrives. All that is important is a signaled commitment as to the sale price of the vehicle plus dealer fees.

I agree. I won't feel a glimmer of hope until the order is actually placed. Until then I will stew in jealousy of those who have theirs.

I would say unless you have a signed Dealer Sales Order with an "out the door" price, with a provision for 2022 MSRP Adjustment TBD if necessary, and the confirmed submission into K-Dealer order system to be queued for KFOS order opening then you don't have any guarantee of anything.

Even with all of that, your hands are tied as to when the vehicle will come in. Timelines are based on so many factors, Kia's production schedule of your Model and Trim, the volume of your dealer, part and component availability, etc. etc.....

Eventually, this too shall pass, but currently this is the Telluride process unfortunately.

It looks like they are currently trying to finish as many of the 2021 SX AWDs they can before the 2022 swap. So then the question becomes what model will be the first 2022 group. EX, SX, or S? Meaning depending on what model you are waiting on it may be even longer after the swap because they may not build SXs again for another month or so into 2022 model production.

We just don't know really...I ordered 4-26 knowing I would fall into 2022 model production. If I get it by September I will be happy. Until then I'm just going to stalk my sales person and Failcat as much as I can. I may get lucky and find one coming in they are willing to part with at MSRP but chances are I'm stuck until my order is here.

Bound and gagged for sure. I can't do anything but shut up and wait. Well, that's what the Mrs. keeps telling me anyway haha

You’re also bound and gagged bringing your car into the dealer. What incentive do they have to be fair with your trade in? They know you’re going to to buy their car regardless. Sell it before you go in.

I have heard Carmax is giving great prices for used cars right now. I do not have any experience as I am just trying to replace a totaled Telly and I have no trade in....Thankfully that's one less issue I have to add.

Timing will be an issue. But if I can line up my sale within a few days of the purchase, I will do that over trade in. So much uncertainty right now...

That's terrible! I hope all are well.

Ordered an EX Premium AWD today and was told we'll find out in the next week if the order will be picked up or kicked into 2022 builds. They stated that if picked up for 2021, we should expect it mid July.

They are selling you an already allocated vehicle or they straight up lied to you

I figured as much after reading through the last portion of this thread. They did state that if kicked over to the 2022 builds, it could be September or later.

May KFOS already opened and confirmed to have no Telluride allocations in it. April was the last month for 2021 allocations.

They are still popping up on failcat so I wouldn't rule out a 2021 yet. My VIN showed up 5 days after I ordered despite my dealer warning me to expect a 3-5 month wait.

I'm delivering my 2016 Ford Expedition Limited with 43000 miles to the Dealer on May 12,2021 for $4500.00 over KBB. Waiting for my Telly. Kia dealer says about September for ESP SX AWD? Good time to sell a used car. This was more than Carvanna or Carmax.

What does it mean if your order shows on failcat? I haven't heard anything from dealer, except that our order was filled 4/9/21. No official ETA or VIN.
Saturday 5/8 there was an exact match to our order on Failcat under our dealer. They've had around 20 orders post to failcat since we ordered, 4/1, and this is the 1st exact match and MSRP price quote we received to the cent. Is this likely ours? And if so, what's that mean as far as delivery time from failcat VIN?
Thanks!!
