Latest information on Ordering System(Kdealer/KFOS) starting Sept 2020

This is an anecdote but may be useful info. My wife and I put in an order at the end of February and were told it would likely arrive sometime in August.

Yesterday, I got a call from the dealer (which has a very good rep on here) but my order hasn't been picked up by Kia yet and he's not sure when they will due to the chip shortage. On the other hand, he has one arriving in a few weeks that's very close to what we ordered (exterior color isn't great for my wife). He has put our name on that one and kept our order going also, so no loss I guess.

@StephenCantrelle, is there a way to verify that the dealer has submitted the order but Kia hasn't picked it up (whatever that state of limbo is called)?

My order was submitted today for SX AWD, I am number 6 for SX AWD. I assume 6 for SX AWD and not just number 6 for 2022 Telluride. I asked how many SX AWD were in front of me and I was told 5. I am number 6.

This is for dealer FL058 - Bill Byrd Kia

Hoping it will move fairly quickly....anyone have any insight?

Over the past year they’ve been allocated around 9 Tellurides per month.

Can you do the same for Youngblood Kia? I ordered mine yesterday and he said 9 have been picked up by Kia so far. I’m number 50. Kinda wondering how long it will take

About 18 per month over the past year

Thanks! How do you find that info? I am not doubting you in the least. I am just curious. Are you going by how many show “created” on failcat for the dealer?? Thanks!

Yes. You can look up the dealer, and it will tell you how many have been created in the last year. I’ve been doing the same for the dealer I ordered with, it’s been fairly consistent per month. It’s a good way to tell if the dealer you are working with has a high volume dealer or not.

Is it possible for you remarkable inside guys here to suggest a dealer with a large allocation/mth in the Northern Virginia/ Southern MD region?
I've spent weeks calling dealerships around here, and so far just one of them has recommended placing an order. Some had specifically said that Tellies are 'allocation only' - no factory orders.
This thread has been a revelation. Hopefully, someone who knows can recommend a straight dealership with a decent allocation rate.
Very much appreciated!

WFT is 'failcat'? Link anyone?

Let Me Google That

The larger the allocation doesn't necessarily mean the quicker you will get the car. Its probably the opposite. Dealers with very high allocations, sell tons of vehicles, which means they are probably selling at MSRP. The dealer I ordered from, Hendricks, sells tons of cars, thus has a very large allocation. But they also have very long waits despite the high allocation. Its not in Northern Va but Raleigh isn't that much further. Hendricks was very straight forward, very easy to work with and didn't play games. I highly recommend if you are looking for high allocation, @MSRP (plus a dealer fee obviously), give them a call. That is why they earned my business. Madeline handles the internet inquiries and is straight shooter.

Will echo your exact sentiment. I also ordered from Hendrick Kia in Cary, working with Madeline who has been excellent. 3/20 order for a SX FWD, received my VIN for a 2022 this past Monday, 6/19 tentative ETA.

Well that is good important news for me! I ordered SX AWD 4/5 and am still waiting for factory to pick up the order. I assume, with what you just said, I should be right around the corner!

Not sure if this sounds good....but I am number 6 for SX AWD. My dealer earned 3 units. 2 EX FWD and 1 S AWD. The 2 EX will be regular dealer orders. The 1 S AWD is a sold order. They do have 1 supplemental which they requested it to be a SX AWD. Said will know for sure on Wednesday what they got.

Any thoughts @StephenCantrelle ?

just a lower volume store... if you are number 6 may be a long wait.. but that is why you asked the right questions.... I would see about ordering from higher volume dealer..

Question:
I got the call from my dealer that the order was picked up through kdealer this past Monday. He then asked us to call back in a couple of days to get the eta. We called today and he said the eta is July 1st, which is amazing!! When we asked for the vin, he stated that he didn’t have it and usually doesn’t get the vin until about a week prior, @StephenCantrelle is that pretty typical to not have a vin, but to have an eta? It just didn’t make sense to me that he wouldn’t have buns until about a week prior to delivery, if they are usually in failcat about 1.5 months prior to delivery.

yes it is normal to have ETA before VIN.. location is big factor when it comes to having a VIN weeks to a month before Telluride arrives to dealer... for example if in GA I can see that being the case.. I would imagine the VIN will generate in the next few weeks

Dang. Per failcat, they average 8 to 9 telluride’s a month and have had 13 SX AWD so far this year. I was hoping for a higher allocation this month. My only other option would be Bramlett Kia in Decatur or Kia of Anniston in Alabama. However, I already put a deposit down with Bill Byrd, which is refundable, but I would hate to pull it. However if it means months difference in time between any of those other dealers I mentioned, it may be worth it. I wish I knew the other dealer allocations without having to ask them at this point….

About 18 per month over the past year
I ordered mine from Ray Stillman Shadeland Kia in Indianapolis. Would you be able to tell me how many they have averaged or how I could find out their dealer number to check?

Is there a way to tell using failcat or any other source or would I have to ask? If ask, just ask how many Tellurides were they allocated today in KFOS? And how many SX AWD are in their kdealer queue?
