• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Driving back from Grand Canyon yesterday amidst gusty winds. Tried to roll driver’s side window up and it would not stay up. Kept popping back down 1 inch. Had to full stop to get window to roll up completely. I’ve heard of others having same issue.

What’s the solution been just a new motor? Or are the arms/brackets the issue.

I had been on the interstate for a short trip and decided to drive through the touchless car wash on the way home to remove the bugs. Little did know that when I rolled down the drivers window to select service the passenger side dropped down a little also. Imagine my shock when the high pressure wash came around that side of the car and soapy water was spraying all over the inside, not once but twice! When I realized what was happening I rolled up the window and it dropped down a bit once more so got sprayed every time the wash bar came around. As soon as I could exit I pulled over to the side and broke out a rag that I had in the back and wiped everything down. Every time I rolled up the window it dropped down about a quarter of an inch. Somewhere on this forum I remembered that you could reset the window by rolling it down all the way and then back up. Did that and it closed tightly. Hasn't happened since but I know how to check and fix it so it hopefully wont surprise me again in a car wash, but it is truly a weird quirk to be happening to this otherwise so far awesome SUV.

Oh my! That’s terrible 😢. Reminded me of the time I opened my sun roof and forgot there was snow on top of the car. Wife got a lap full of snow. She didn’t like that I couldn’t stop laughing 😝

The answer has been that it's a safety feature (on many new cars), that prevents rolling a window up if the system thinks there might be an object in the way. At speed, with one window open, then air rushing in creates high pressure in the car equivalent to an object blocking the window. So slow down, or crack the sunroof, or try relieving the pressure by having a couple of windows go down and up at same time.

Well.....hopping nothing get damaged, and well you have a clean interior too

This has happened to me 3 times in the past year. Generally happens when going at high speeds and you roll down the window for whatever reason. It won't roll all the back up and leaves a crack. Kind of annoying when your driving with the noise. Glad it wasn't raining. It's so random though. Would love to know a fix.

Hey guys. So I've got this same issue. Rolled my window down for a bit, then tried to pull it back up and it won't go up all the way. Stopped the car, shut it down restarted, it won't go up or down. Tried opening the sun roof and closing it to see if this would help, but the window will neither go up or down. Anyone know what I can do to fix this. I live in a place where it can be sunny in a the morning and snowing the next. Any help would be appreciated

That sounds like an issue for the dealership/ warranty.

I love all the knowledge I gain from this forum. Driving on I-70 at 85 miles, rolled window down to elevate air pressure in my ears. It wouldn't roll back up all the way. Since I read a variety of topics on here, I knew this was an easy fix. I vented my sunroof, rolled up my window, then closed sunroof. Silly glitch but I love this ride!

I have this fix!!!! This happened to me a couple of weeks ago while driving down the interstate. My lovely did the research over her phone while I continued to drive. It's a window sensor re-set and nothing more. I had just had my SXP in for scheduled maintenance the week before, where they also performed a Navi software version upgrade. The web says that the window sensors can sometimes be affected by electronic system changes or updates, or if you replace your battery.

Hold the power window button down for 10 seconds, then back up for 10 seconds. That should fix your problem.
