• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

At times I've been pretty opinionated on this forum, sometimes to my own detriment. I also have a FWD and don't have anything close the vibration that is being experienced by those with the AWD vibration. (That's based of a video that I got from a PM.) I will say this AWD vibration is not just an annoyance, far from it. For those who have it, I am very sympathetic that this is a huge problem. Unless you have experienced it firsthand or seen a video of what is being discussed, I would be careful trying to downplay this problem. This doesn't appear to me to be a small issue that becomes an annoyance. If it were me I would be pissed if the problem started on an AWD that I purchased, but I would be even more livid at the lack of acknowledgement by Kia and some of their dealer network that there is a problem. Based on the video that I saw it is very clearly not normal unless you are driving a dump truck with knobby tires. I don't think there is an off-road feeling mode that people are signing up for. The fact that Hyundai acknowledged it on the Palisade but the problem still appears to persist on some AWD Tellurides from MY2020, 2021, and 2022 would make me really worried if Kia were trying to increase their production numbers that the quality problem is there and will be magnified at scale with more volume. This will kill your resale if you end up having the problem with no resolution. If you get the problem and get offered a buyback, I would strongly consider it if there is no other answer. If you are buying an AWD used, I would take it on the highway and get it up to speed and see how comfortable a ride is. The nappa seats won't feel as good when you start feeling like you were taken to the cleaners.

My advice to anyone with the problem, use the NHTSA complaints to make sure your situation is noted. That's the only way it will get attention. New buyers make decisions based off of those complaints and car reviewing companies and websites take notice, as a result the manufacturers have to respond.

I really feel for all the good people with vibration and now transmission problems, I just placed the order for EXP AWD, came back home and... found and re-read this thread, I was thinking this issue was long over. I agree with posters, defects happens to any vehicle but if dealer and OEM are taking good care of you it is tolerable, what I read here concerned me significantly, weeks in the shop with no loaners, run arounds, flat refusals to repair... Not cool. There is always a risk that dealer would not install parts to the same level of quality as factory leading to more problems.
Vibration is not something that NHTSA will consider seriously as it is not a "safety" problem per se but filing is important, better place to file is not with NHTSA but with Consumer Protection division of Attorney General for your states. Attorney General cannot enforce anything but if people file 100+ complaints across US with AG's office, this will boil up at Kia. Many auto OEMs choose to ignore Attorney Generals letters, GM does ignore all the time but record is record, and eventually it will get attention as those complaints are public domain. More importantly if it comes to Lemon case, complaint with AG helps with a paper trail.

The camaraderie of this forum is something that we should not lose. If you have a truck without vibration it is a terrific sign, but I am sympathetic with all those who have vibration and transmission problems. l lived through hell of GM and it is not healthy. At the end of the day Kia did something very important it sent message to all other auto OEMs that it can steal their market in a matter of months, of course only if Kia takes care of customers, at the moment there is no incentive for Kia to take care of customers, demand far exceeds supply.

Can someone tell me how they have fixed their 2020 Telluride AWD with rear differential that has been replaced because it was defective. Had a new one placed, same vibration when turning from a stop and when the rear wheels are engaging for power.

only when turning.?
double check to make sure 4 wheels not locked.

Turning and when power is transferred to rear during acceleration and not locked in AWD.

I have this same issue when accelerating from a stop, wheels turned to the left. Very slight vibration/shimmy from the rear as the rear tires get torque (I assume). Did someone have this and get it resolved?

I had similar vibration....had the tire force balanced. took some of the vibration out but need to bring back as still feeling the oscillating/vibration. Dealer tried to tell me that is just the way the car is, don't believe them so more investigation needed. Guess I'm not the only one.
I have the similar ongoing vibration issue with my SX AWD. Tired of reporting dealership and very frustrated ~AM

My EX AWD has been in the shop for 4 weeks now. I get conflicting stories from the dealer and Kia. The dealer told me they fitted a new driveshaft but it didn't solve the problem. Kia then called to tell me the driveshaft that was ordered would be delivered in 1 week! The dealer then told me they are waiting for Kia engineers to come out and take a look. I then got a call from Kia saying the coupler didn't fix the issue and they were escalating my ticket. I'm sure the actual story is in there somewhere. Kia tried to tell me they hadn't heard about this issue before. I told them to go look at the NHTSA website and this forum.
I picked up my 2022 SX-P AWD last week and noted on the drive home that in the 70-80 mph range, there is a low hum noise, kind of like a continual bass noise that's heard throughout the cabin. I originally thought it was the speakers, but turned off the music and it continues. Tire pressures are in the mid-30's. I don't feel any vibration and have scanned through this thread, is there a known issue I can address? Thanks!

Does anyone know what can be done if the car is brand new? I’m under the impression there’s a small window of opportunity and looking to bypass lengthy wait times. Unfortunately my dealer is not local, so I also face potentially going to a local dealer that didn’t sell me the vehicle.

They replaced the coupler. Have to go pick it up. We will see. Gonna drive it like I stole it before we leave town to see if it is fixed.

Well over two years later, what did y’all figure out about this vibration. I’m in the market for a new telluride, trying to do my research to see if it’s a good buy.

I don’t have the energy nor the time to pursue this with KIA and it’s dealers.
I think I will return the car at the end of my lease and let KIA pass this problem on to another …

I looked through the thread, what is the best way to test for this condition during the drive test?

It is noticeable between 110 to 130 km/hr for me.

drive the car in that speed range and see if you feel vibration in steering wheel and /or pedals/ floor.

Anybody feel a oscillating vibration at around 70mph?
SX AWD

Great mistake to choose this car specially from Toronto Kia. ☹️ What a terrible driving experience since I bought Telluride SX AWD. Going through all depression about Keep reporting since day one but they only do all wrong diagnosis And at first blamed wheel Bearing then Michelin tire, alloy rims even though I did road forced twice but vibration issue keep coming back. it’s really annoying. asking help and hoping to find a solution 🤔

I think pretty much all KI dealers are like this including the two I have had to deal with unfortunately.

wouldn’t Do anything beyond balancing the wheels.
