• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello! Im a new Kia first time buyer with a 22’ Telluride SX AWD. When I originally posted this I was emotional but have come back to my senses.
The condition of my vehicle does not reflect the amazing customer service if my dealership or how impressive the vehicle is as a whole.

That said I just purchased yesterday and the Telluride does have the vibration issue at around 65-75 mph that is mentioned in 61 pages of the vibration thread on this forum. It is otherwise smooth and responsive with no issues.
After purchase and feeling this very strong vibration that feels like a very loud physically active bass speaker under the hood I researched the issue and found this forum. I was a bit freaked out by Kia’s seeming lack of plan to correct the issue for previous owners and now that I’m here I can understand their concerns and frustrations.

That said I’m going to give my dealership space to help me solve the problem before I give up.

Two years ago I joined the ranks of the telluride fan club after owning 5 Jeeps in my lifetime that I enjoyed. I watched dozens of videos on this car. The vibration issue never came up. So I was shocked and felt compelled to share.

I appreciate the positive and negative offered to talk through things and that everyone takes their time to share. It changed ny outlook from fear and sorrow to hope. So I thank you.

Broken hearted. I truly loved everything about the Telly. Waited for this vehicle for two years thx to pandemic lockdowns etc, and ordered SX AWD 22’ in July. Received it yesterday and purchased, only to drive it home at 70 mph and apparently win the “Kia Telluride vibration lottery” . There is nowhere near the dealership to test speeds over 65 bc the traffic is too high.
So last night I immediately googled the headache inducing vibration and found this forum. I’m terrified of what I just dumped $60k into. I don’t know whether to pursue the state lemon laws and ruin the vehicles carfax reports or dump immediately and give up. I am in shock and disbelief. I truly trusted that this would be my next beloved family travel car and work vehicle for a decade. My stomach is inside out seeing the time suck ahead of me that all the serious vibration issues cause. I watched hundreds of videos on this car. The vibration issue never came up. It’s a well kept secret.

As if the pandemic wasn’t exhausting enough on its own…. I don’t think I have the fight in me to spend months or my next 7 years pleading with Kia and having no car while it’s “repaired”. The people at my dealership are so nice. This will ruin everything.
Hello. Yes. It is true that many people have been experiencing a vibration issue (there is a thread in the forum called ‘Vibration’). However, this is not a time to panic. The type of vibration seems to vary across the owners experiencing this issue. There is a procedure to go through to determine the cause.

Btw, I have not had this problem with mine, However, I did have it with my old Honda Pilot. But, even with the vibration, I got 260K out of it. And, I am not an expert on this.

Can you describe the occurrence (highway type, type of vibration (in steering wheel or during acceleration), etc.). Btw, it would help to know if you are experiencing vibration issues at other speeds, or when turning, etc.

The first thing you should check is to make sure your tires are properly inflated. Next, have your wheels checked to make sure they are balanced (this should have been done already, but trying to eliminate the obvious). I have heard that certain tires used by Kia are causing vibration in other vehicles. ( I have not verified this personally ). What tires do you have?

After doing these things, see if the problem persists. If so, it still could be the tires, or something else.

Btw. Definitely visit the ‘Vibration‘ thread to read more about this.

Anyone else want to comment?

Hi Katy :) Thx for responding!
I actually was up all last night reading the vibration thread. That’s how I found this group.
I’ve been trying to piece together an action plan. I’ve notified the dealership but from the dozens of posts in that thread it looks like going through the process of repair is frustrating and not ending well for most. This is why I’m so concerned.

The vibration activates around 65-75 mph and then it comes and goes about every 2 seconds. Like the beat of a song. A vibration so jarring that it feels as if the world’s biggest sound system is in a car next to you and you can never escape it. I actually thought for a second at first we were having a mild earthquake. I turned the radio completely off. My head began to throb. (That sounds dramatic but I had a concussion 2 years ago.)
I tried changing all the drive modes, slowing and speeding. Nothing helped except slowing way down to 55.

After driving like this for 20 minutes, my hands were numb as well as rear end. It is felt in the entire drivers area, steering wheel, seat, and floor. My husband took it out to see and felt it as well.

These symptoms unfortunately check out with experiences of others in the vibration thread.

Does it happen every time you take it on the highway? And, the vibration was this severe, both times?

If so, how did you like your sales person? I’d call the dealer, tell your salesperson about it, and then set up an appointment with the service department. Then at the dealership, take a tech with you on a drive so that the vibration can be reproduced.

Since this happened on your drive home from the dealer, they could be very receptive.

It still sounds like a tire or two is out of balance.
