• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I'm taking one for the team - probably half installed on my Telly right now. Will update later with thoughts.

It says about 25 minutes to update... I'm guessing it will be 1.5 hours again...

45 minutes into update - on step 4/5: updating modem.

Will this update only upgrade the Navigation system?
It is primarily a map update, but the degree of other new features/etc that will be changed depends on what you’re updating from.

If you’ve updated in the last year, you won’t see any big changes. If you’re on an older version, you’ll see some big changes since lots of the UI was updated last November.

how can you tell what version you are running on the car?...also where are the directions to update?

Update completed!
25 minutes to download to the USB stick and another 25 minutes to install in car, engine running, on a trip to Starbucks, so about one hour total.
Map background options now include dark mode, along with the regular white, milk and mocha.
And the FM radio reception has been improved while driving in a tunnel.
Radio screen still shows the tubes.

Update completed somewhere around 1 hour.

Do not really see any major updates beyond what is noted on the website.

The home screen looks to now display the address in the top right corner on startup. Maybe it did this before, but so think it is a change.

Will play around more when I have time. Only did a very quick look around. In general, think this is a polish update with the updates noted on the website.

All the directions are at update.kia.com.

You can go to setup > general > SW info/update and find your map version.

14.5 (Aug 2020) NAM.13.47.44.680.201

14.10 (Nov 2020) NAM.13.47.50.610.201

Can anybody with an expired UVO subscription confirm if the new update removes Vaisala weather function? The release notes says subscription is required for weather.

With the November 2020 update, the weather service still works even without paid UVO subscription.

For what it’s worth, it has said that the weather has required connected services ever since they switched from using HD Radio data last year. I would think the fact that yours is still working is an anomaly, but who knows. Alas, I have an active subscription so I can't confirm or deny whether it still works or not with the update.

Other than allowing you to have an always black map mode, this is probably the most noticeable change with the update – they moved around most of the items on the home screen and removed the driver profile selector from this home screen as well.

One thing to watch out for... the update deselected both "Enable Android Auto" and "Enable Apple CarPlay" in their respective settings. So if you are trying to plug in your phone to use either of those (or using a wireless adapter), you might want to make sure the settings are re-enabled before you waste time wondering why your device won't connect.

Also, because I know there will be questions... NO, this update does NOT bring full-screen Android Auto capability. Yet another update without enabling it (this is the fifth one now since Google enabled it)... it's not going to happen, people.

Thanks for all of the information here. Disappointing (again), but not terribly surprising at this point. I'll stick with the "vintage" 3 panel display, as I really don't like the purple UI and especially the radio screen. I'm kind of shocked they haven't changed at least that screen, but it's not worth spending more energy on this when they clearly just don't care.

Btw, I recently switched from Android to iOS, and Carplay's widescreen support is a game-changer in my opinion. Carplay is also noticeably more stable for me (lots of USB disconnects with AA).

Took longer than 25 minutes to update. New "Calendar" that says "Please contact a customer service representative". Going to play with that in a bit to see if I can figure it out......
Seems to be a UVO thing. The Valet feature explicitly said that it needs a UVO subscription. This feature doesn't but it's the same phone number. I disabled the ability for it to show up on the screen.

I did the same thing back in June, I had been a long time Android guy, but the full screen support in the apple car play and with how smooth and responsive it is, has been amazing. while I hate the purple and all the icons, i am running carplay 99.9 percent of the time so at the end of the day it really doesn't even matter that much to me as I thought it would, was hoping for some new features for this update but like other people have said, seems to just be some little tune up.
