• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has anyone else found the HomeLink to be hit or miss when trying to open or close the garage? When I initially programmed the HomeLink, I was able to open the garage...but then a few moments later... it would not close the door. I went through the programming steps again, and it seemed to work, but when I left the house this morning, I could not close the garage door with the HomeLink (even through I had opened it and closed it last night). Leaving the house again today, I could not close the garage door with HomeLink, and thought I read somewhere that the car has to be locked to use HomeLink...I locked the door and sure enough, was able to close the door immediately. Thought I had solved it with that trick, but just tried to leave again and could not close the garage door, not matter what I did...locked, unlocked, car in Reverse, Park.

Am I missing something obvious or is there something wrong with my HomeLink? I have a Chamberlain garage door opener and have no problems opening it with my other 2 cars with HomeLink.

You definitely seem to have an issue either with Homelink on the car or the garage door opener. Mine works fine every time. Hold for <1s, and it actuates. Car on, off, driving or standing still.

Do you know if your doors have to be locked or not?

Homelink has nothing to do with door lock status. Or the color of your pants.

Sounds like you have an issue somewhere; do you have a "rolling code" type garage door opener? Those require slightly different programming instructions for the Homelink unit. Otherwise, you program according to tech manual instructions, and it should work. If your garage works with the other remotes, then likely your issue is with the Homelink in the car.

Problem Solved! It's the LED bulbs in my opener. When the lights have been triggered on, the bulbs put out a frequency (my best guess) that intermittently blocks the signal from the HomeLink controller. When the lights are off, the HomeLink signal can get through without issue. I changed to different LED bulbs (older Feit changed out to newer Feit bulbs) and HomeLink is working normally every time now.

It dawned on me tonight pulling into the garage as I saw the garage door open, the lights come on, and then was unable to close the door again via HomeLink. FYI, all of our other controllers and HomeLink on my Cadillac XT5 worked, even with the old bulbs so there is some interference that only affected the Telluride HomeLink. Hopefully this helps some others in the future.

Thank you for the help and suggestions.
