Completely agree. The internal combustion engine is going the way of the steam engine very shortly. 5-10 years?Much more likely to see plug in hybrid and all electric versions IMO. Pressure to meet higher mileage mandates are most easily met by plug in hybrid, and eventually all electric.
I ask this one question, hold old is the device you typed that message on? An electric car is essentially a computer with wheels and has and will continue to evolve exponentially as compared to an internal combustion engine. I know I can do things today on my lithium powered smartphone that a computer struggled to do 5-10 years ago. The power grid has greater benefit to the public and is easiest to improve than fixing our oil and gas dependencies. One NYC blackout creates rioting and one Texas ice storm takes people back to the ice age. A sustainable and redundant power grid where people aren’t out of power for days saves lives. I experienced a pipeline hack and just stayed home.If you can wait on your order for a new Telluride at MSRP (I have been waiting 4 months so far) then the Telluride is less expensive than a Genesis GV80 but if you have to pay 10 to 15k over on a fully loaded Telluride (to have about the same features) IMHO you are better off with the Genesis GV80 3.5 tt. I already own the GV80 and have 6000 miles on it. I will write a comparative review of both of them once I take ownership of the Telluride. The telluride is not slow with 0-60 time at 7 seconds which is faster than most V8 cars that I grew up with.
On the electric car front I have watched my friends struggle with managing their whole trip around the charging. Not for me yet LOL.....don't like getting bitched at about going less than 20% charge or over 80% and don't play the radio too loud while not running the AC or heater and I think we will make it LOL! You will need a stable significant other if you buy one of these.
One can add up the # of btus of energy of all the gasoline that we use at the moment to extrapolate how much expansion of the grid will be needed (YIKES). Politicians are always BIG on talk and short on heavy lifting especially with a country in decline.
Exactly right. So solve the physics problem with technology that delivers more torque and generates more power instead of relying on technology invented in the late 1800s. Google “eDumper” and then think of the weight that beast is able to move on batteries.Moore's law is easier to change than the physics in moving weight.![]()
