• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... UHaul has a program in Tempe that offers free hitch, installation and lifetime warranty if your let them use you vehicle to custom fabricate a template: U-Haul: Trailer Hitches & Towing Accessories pick “Ship products to me” and read the details and fill out the form.

Funny part is during the early 90's I worked at the Tech Center a few miles from where I live. That where they do all the engineering and fabrication. Sadly, don't know anyone anymore. They do make (IMHO) the best hitches. Either way, I will wait.

Why go to uhaul and Frankenstein a hitch when you can get the exact OEM part online or at the dealer?

The OEM hitch appears to be the one for the Sorento rated for 351 lb tongue weight which limits to 3,510 lbs. An aftermarket one would likely be rated for 500 lbs. to allow for the 5,000 lbs max capacity.

I see, thanks.

I just submitted a request as it still says they need one to fabricate a hitch. If I don't hear back, I may just drop by there haha

After two emails from someone in cust service saying it would be about 3 months before they had one I emailed asking specifically about the process of dropping the Telly off and having them use it for a template.
LOL....I just rec'd a reply from same lady it would be year long wait to engineer one. Good luck if you drop by...you will prob have more success. Think I pissed her off.

Did you talk to April? That was literally the same response I got haha. I I called her out on the website stating they needed a car for a template and even sent a screenshot, needless to say, I haven’t heard back lol

Yup....exactly the person who replied to me all three times. You could tell she was getting tired of me by the third email.
Strong suspicion she has no idea what is going on.

I just spoke with them on the phone. The clearer answer I was given is that they are waiting on aftermarket vendors to develop the hitch. This won’t happen until September. If there’s nothing developed by the end of the year, there may be an option for free development

Hey there, I just talked to them too. Sounds kinda strange that they are waiting to see what other vendors do. She told me there was a year wait...almost, till April of 2020,for them to do the free development. I am not really keen on the hitch from KIA because the tw is only 350. I have to believe there will be pretty good demand for an aftermarket hitch from Draw-Tite or Reese. When I was at U-Haul a number of the centers would fabricate the hitches from scratch. Something seems odd to me anyways.

I wonder if they are waiting to see if other vendors will make them to fit like the OEM or hang below the bumper.

Very odd. Change the website if you don't need the car...otherwise it just generates noise.
