• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... When I put the telluride in reverse, I get the message "parking sensor error or blockage" Ive cleaned the backup sensors, there's no blockage. we think it might have started after taking the car through the car wash. The camera works, it just won't beep if we get too close. Any ideas?

Sounds like a sensor malfunction. Best to take it in for service.

Did you resolve this? I am also having the same issue. Car washed, sensors wiped clean, next on this list battery reset.

I took mine a couple of months ago and this never happened to me. I doubt going to the car wash caused this. It could be just a sensor issue like the others said

Hello,
Just came in on this thread because I'm having the same issues. When you took it in to service, what were they able to find out? Looking to see if it really requires going to the spendy dealer.
Thank you!

Yes as matter of fact. Just today and there was a malfunction with the sensor. The dealership replaced it for free at no charge. They had to order the part so hopefully they have parts at your service station.

What is the temperature where these issues are happening? Hopefully it is not an issue with sensors near the edge of their operating temperature limits.

That's a good question. We were in the DFW area then moved to El Paso, TX much drier and less shade this year didn't get to extremely hot but I thought that could be an issue since we didn't bump it or scratch it. it was 96 in May 2020

Same thing happened to me directly after a car wash. Seems too coincidental that so many people had the same experience.

I have same problem after running through car wash. Dealer says sensors are Fine and don’t know how to fix . So interested in others fix.

My dealer also said "sensors are good" and I am waiting for the results of their contact with KIA tech as to what may be causing the issue.

This just happened to me yesterday going through the car wash as well. I don't have an appt until the 9th. I hope to hear solutions before the 9th as the rep on the phone mentioned something about a $100 fee if they can't trace the problem?? I have 15,000 miles on my car.

so if they can't fix something they charge you for their incompetence? Time to find a new dealer.

Just following back up for others. I got my car in at another service center and I had a bad sensor that they are replacing. It did happen at a car wash like others. So I will be interested In seeing if it occurs in the future because I have no patience to hand wash!

Mine went out for the second time. Took it back to dealer and they said the connectors were corroded and there was water in the wire harness. I was told three harnesses had to be replaced due to corrosion at the connectors and it was not covered by warranty because it was caused by an “outside intervention”. Was also told that KIA regional denied the warranty because of the outside intervention (Can’t explain to me that is) I have filed a complaint with KIA national and waiting on their response. To me is a bad seal at the connectors but so far they are no help. Also looks like more folks are having this issue.
