If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I'm planning on ordering this weekend at the dealership in Muncie (luckily, I live in central Indiana) and it just crossed my mind...what happens if I make all my choices based on the 2022 model, but then I end up receiving a 2023 and now some of the options I wanted are different? Like for example, what if the interior fabric I pick gets discontinued? Or my trim level no longer has certain features I was really wanting?

Sorry if this is a dumb question...this is the first new car I will be buying for myself, and I really want to get it right!

First ask how many orders are ahead of yours. I orderered mid September and learned a few weeks ago there are over 50 orders ahead of mine. Call around to different dealers- even if you have to travel to pick it up it is still worth shopping around.

I have had some local dealers give me shorter wait windows (with the markup...) and one even mentioned that they are prioritized in ordering because they deal a higher volume of new cars. I wasn't sure if that was a bluff or not. Maybe I need to rethink my ordering plan! Thanks.

I'm afraid the answer is, you take what comes in or you go find what you want somewhere else. Maybe you're able to find a factory allocation that's not spoken for and a dealer is willing to sell you, maybe you end up waiting again.

I was in a similar situation, my 2020 order was basically the end of 2020 production. The EXP was getting some good stuff for 21 so I passed when my car came in and tracked down a 21 which I waited about 2 months for after I found it. I actually found my car right before my order showed up.

If you have yet to order from Muncie you likely won't be getting a 22. Don't quote me on this but if you're ordering a low trim, that may be a different story.

If your car comes in and there are things you don't like, they'll gladly sell it to someone else. Good news is, we'll likely find out between April and June what is changing so you would likely have some time before your vehicle shows up to track down another Telly.

Happened to us 2020/2021 during covid. Dealer will get a notification for confirmation of changes to the Telluride for the new MY and if you approve it, continues production like normal. No action required by you. If you don't approve the changes/updates with the new pricing then you look elsewhere for another vehicle type. Production on these things moves forward with or without us unfortunately.
The '23 will be more expensive, period. Unless you get it in writing from the dealer to keep the '22 pricing in place which is rare. This was our experience and fortunately the price increase wasn't too significant and the updates included remote start and updated heater. We also got to keep the color choice. If we would've ordered a couple months later the color would've changed to Glacier White Pearl and we would've had to accept it for example. GL

This is great information. Thank you so much.

The best thing to do is ask Lucas (if you're ordering with him) he will be transparent and honest with you about that situation.

Reality is based off their historical backlog and list of orders if you haven't ordered yet you will def not be getting car for 6-8+ months which means for sure it will be a 2023 model. Once the system fully updates to 2023 orders any remaining unfulfilled orders more or less need to be re-entered into the system (and or updated) assuming there are new features/options available you may or may not be able to change/modify your order.

In regards to pricing you're going to pay whatever the price is at the time the vehicle starts production -- ie: you place order today and price is Y, 2023 model starts production June and price goes up to X, your car begins production September and there was a price increase to Z in August....your price is Z.
(those dates are all hypothetical for explanation, I don't know when the model year changes, etc..)

But also easiest thing to do is call Lucas and just ask him how that will play out for you. We have put in our second order with Lucas a few weeks ago and are basically in the same boat as you, and expecting it'll be a 2023 based off historical timelines.

You will get a 2023 if you just placed the order - no doubt about it - unless there is a rare situation where someone cancels and you get called.

At Muncie, I suspect your waitlist # maybe in 100s - it will probably take 6-7 months for your order to get picked up and then i suspect 2-3 months for delivery. Realistically your wait time will be 10 months from today to get the car.

At this point you don't have much you can do right now - unless you have some other car outside Telluride your interested in.

I’m not sure which trim & or packages you’re looking to buy, but Hallmark Kia(formerly Wilson) in MS has a lot of Telluride’s incoming(early February-March) due to new owners. They’re selling at MSRP(even for on the lot units). I recently secured a SX trim from them, because the dealer I placed my order through on 11/16 is low volume and no telling when it will get accept by Kia. Now I should have mine from Hallmark by February 10th, ETA is the 3rd.

What was your experience dealing with Wilson?
