• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I recently installed a custom subwoofer enclosure that I made myself which fits in the cargo area in the trunk. I also wired an amplifier under the front driver seat with a line out converter. If anyone is interested in doing this let me know, I can give you useful tips on what to do. Especially when you are looking for the speaker signal! (Do Not tear up the dash looking for the radio harness, not worth it !)

Pictures?

What did you not like about the OEM subwoofer?

I can probably give you some feedback on that. The OEM system Harmon Kardon is pretty bad for audiophiles. The whole system, not just the subwoofer. For those of us that are not audiophiles, the system is ok, and we probably won't go spending a few thousand bucks to improve it.
Now the OEM subwoofer is housed in cheap plastic - and it should be housed in a proper case for quality sound. The amplifiers associated with the OEM system are also totally inadequate for a subwoofer.
Hope this gives you an idea without getting down into the weeds of actual specs, etc.

Sure does! I am not a audiophile but appreciate that others are and find it interesting to learn their feedback about the HK system.

I will get some pictures later today to show you guys . I am by no means a professional but I do take my time and try to get the cleanest look while still learning to do everything on my own .

Also, I have an EX which comes with the base sound system. It’s pretty underwhelming.

AHH - Makes sense!
The Premium HK system is not much better. The subwoofer is small and like I said, enclosed in plastic. All of the speakers throughout the car are made of paper. The speakers driven by an underpower amplifier cannot take any large increase in volume. Take your car to any audio shop, and they will laugh. My daughter had Crutchfield do a complete upgrade to her Cadillac SUV, using really good quality, speakers, subwoofer, amplifier, etc. And the sound difference is remarkable. However, Crutchfield doesn't have much info on the Telluride or Sorento and therefore they turn down requests. Unfortunately, going to an audio shop will cost about double what Crutchfield charges because Crutchfield is extremely high-volume.

Here is some photos of the install guys. I didn't take many pics during the install just because I wasn't planning on doing a whole write up. The box sits about 1/2" taller than the seats when folded down. It is down firing so there is space under the box for the shallow subwoofer to move. I installed the amp and line out converter under the driver seat and got my speaker signal by tapping into the left and right rear speaker wires from the pillar next to the front seats. Let me know if any one has questions if they plan on doing this.

Very nice. Can you give dimensions of the box? What kind of subs?

Hello new member here just purchased a 24 EX X Line wanting to do the same thing to it. Could you tell me what color wires for the speakers that need to be tapped into? Also if you have any better pictures of the wires in the side panel. Thanks in advance. Tom

Too late. I have a 2024 Telluride, and I removed the dash to find that there is no radio unit behind the display.
