I have a feeling it does not have that capability. I may be wrong. Let's see what others say. I haven't been in a Telluride yet...Is can it shift into 4WD low or 4WD high?
I remember in my friend's old Ford Bronco, you actually had to get out of the vehicle to make the switch...It does have a locking differential which puts it in a 50/50 mode .. just like 4wd low up to 25 mph then it will ayutomatically take you out of lock and put you back into an all time AWD mode until back below 25 mph.
I remember padre island as pretty hard packed sand. I’m moving to the outer banks of NC and will have some very soft, deep rutted beach to contend with on the northern end. I always aired down to about 15 psi in the Touareg when I drove onto island beach state park beaches in New Jersey and it was fine.
LGF - did you ever end up taking your Telluride onto the sand/beach? I am interested in leasing one but if it cannot drive in powdery sand on the NJ beaches, I don't want it. I have not been able to find anything about it driving on that type of sand.I'm dying to put my Telluride on the sand!!
But I worry of how much will get absorbed in the undercarriage...
I had a 2009 Honda Pilot and though it drove well in the sand...It had so so much below ...The Telluride is lower...So I worry
Any thoughts TELLURIDE owners??
My understanding is it's not a real locking differential. It locks the rear power transfer clutch. It will release if overworked and does not guarantee a constant 50-50 all the time, especially under stress. And it uses an e-differential instead of a locking or limited slip differential. Now I don't know what any of that means really, but if you want to go off-roading this is not your baby. Can I drive this car on the beach? I think it has a AWD with a locking differential. Is can it shift into 4WD low or 4WD high?
I had a 2014 Touareg that was fine in the sand.

Accurate, Air down to 10-15psi & roll slow. 15mph speed limit on IBSP ANYWAY. Ground clearance is bigger issue in soft sand. My 2010 Honda Pilot does just fine in normal Drive mode. Although it does drag sand a bit when quite soft.I remember padre island as pretty hard packed sand.
