Have been following this discussion for a long time....decided to throw in my "two cents"...... I don't think this is a "pulley/belt" issue. I believe it is most likely some sort of "intake" or "gas compression" issue......over the years, I have had a Mercedes GL450, Caddy Escalade that had a similar issue as well as a Ford Explorer that also made the sound. Always on very cold days ( temps below 20) My 20 Telly makes the same very quick noise under the same conditions.....and having taken all of the above vehicles to a place in New England in the winter where I park them overnight in -10 + conditions and heard the sound to a louder extent AND that I have not noticed on the Telly nor noticed on the previous other vehicles any other related issues, I have decided to simply assume that the electronics and all other systems related to the combustion and climate control aspects incorporated in most of our modern vehicles simply do NOT like very, to extreme, cold weather.
