• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... It was driving me crazy that you had to stop the car and put it in park to look for navigation directions. I understand it is a distraction/ safety issue. The passenger should be able to use it on the run. I also did not like that if you left the rear tailgate open and hit the lock button, it did not close. I will have to see if there is some setting to correct that issue. I do love the adaptive cruise control.

Closing the rear hatch remotely isn't a function generally. Some can hack it with some vehicles and software (BMW).

You can close it remotely on the Telluride. Definitely better than most vehicles.

Guess I never had a reason to try it out but your right. I guess I'll use at some point 🤔

Use the voice recognition while not in park. Should work if you say the right commands even without a paid UVO subscription. I’ve done so myself.

Your remote fob or the physical button on the hatch door should still close the hatch irregardless of locked door status. That is how my 2020 model works at least.

I know the fob can close the tailgate, but I feel that if the tailgate is open and you hit the lock button, the tailgate should close automatically. I walked away from the car and did not realize the tailgate was left completely open. I could have had all my luggage stolen.

You don't want that to happen. There are situations where a family member is still gathering up stuff in the back and i'll walk off and lock the doors that way when when the liftgate is closed after they are done doing what they are doing, the car will be locked. The way you describe means that if they are still doing their thing back there, I have to wait until they are done OR if I'm not aware someone is still back there and i click lock, the liftgate will come down on them. Situation 1 happens a lot with grocery shopping and dropping off the kids.

What car does that? I’ve driven several luxury cars but have never seen that as an option. At most there is a close+lock button on the hatch or double press the hatch button to close and lock.

I posted month ago about doing a nav search for a new destination while moving. I totally agree that it's perfectly safe for a passenger to do so. Even if they had a disclaimer pop up confirming it was only available to the passenger (for liability reasons), then that would still work. Anyway, as others have said, a partial workaround is to do it using voice commands via the steering wheel button. I have an UVO subscription so I'm not sure how well this works without one.

We were driving around Vegas yesterday and were using the voice command asking for directions to "New York, New York Casino Hotel in Las Vegas" and the command repeatedly failed. Its hit/miss for it to work. I have voice controls in my 2014 Challenger and never use it because its just plain useless.

This is why CarPlay is knocking out in-unit Nav systems-- nothing is as good as your cell phone. "Hey, Siri, I need directions to..." works flawlessly.

Yeah - pretty much the only way to go these days.

If they could just integrate the turn indicators and distance into the HUD, in car navis would be done for

Google is doing it one better and working on becoming the native in car software. Won't even need your phone connected. Just sign in. Facial recognition will load correct profile and all your settings.

This is true- we test drove a 2022 XC60, and the Google voice commands worked perfectly.
