• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey all,

So I'm in a bit of a quagmire.

We ordered our "N"/T/P SX Telly on 12/23. We patiently waited and finally saw a P/T pop up on Failcat on 02/11. I thought to myself, "hmm that looks a lot like the one we ordered."

Turns out, they goofed on out order. O asked if they could correct it while it was still at the factory but it looks like it has already shipped out.

Based on y'all's experiences, what is my best options at this point?

Thoughts?

You ordered in December and it's already on the way? That's likely not your order, but something "close enough" that the dealer is giving you. Some dealers do that instead of placing actual orders. Most people here, even at very high volume dealers, wait for way more than 6 weeks.

I guess I should have clarified, after I saw it show on Failcat, the dealer sent it to us, letting us know it is ours. We pointed out that it was missing the NE package. And now we are here...

I do realize that the +/- 8 weeks is pretty good for delivery. The dealer said they had just had an order delivered at 6 weeks on the nose so maybe our proximity (Upstate SC) to the plant helps?

Nonetheless, the main question here was to see if anyone had any thoughts on our options would be.

In my mind, these are the options I have come up with:

1. Reject the car and re-order it.
2. Accept the car (with a discount) and try to replicate NE w/ aftermarket parts (either DIY or at a body shop)
3. Request that the dealer orders the NE parts and replace them at the dealership before we take it (not sure if this is plausible, they should be able to get OEM replacement parts, like any body shop, right?)

My thoughts are you will not know your true options until you see what if anything the dealer will offer to do to right their error. You can then select from those options or counter with your suggestions. Sadly, the continued shortage frenzy keeps most dealers in the not helpful mode. Even a purely cosmetic conversion can be expensive.

I would think your only real option is #1, unless dealer offers you #2 or #3, which they won't. They won't charge you for Nightfall but they won't give you a discount either. If you're getting it so quickly, perhaps it's worth reordering and hoping for a quick turnaround once again.

Since you're getting an SX, and it's a '22, it'll have a mostly black grille and black wheels already, so the only real things you're missing are black window trim, roof rails, and a few pieces on the bottom (skid plates, air intakes and door panels). You may want to see the car to decide if it's really such a big deal.

Vinyl wrapping of those pieces may actually cost less than $1395 nightfall upcharge.
