• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... List the thing(s) that annoy you about your Telluride

I hope this is an isolated issue. Here in ND, we have below zero temps at least four months out of the year, and a good percentage of time in the car is idling at stop lights and in parking lots, etc. I would definitely question that "working as designed" statement from the dealer.
There are multiple threads on this site filled with people experiencing the same problem and none of us have been able to track down a solution. I just can't understand how Kia can continue to sell this vehicle in cold weather states - you and I both know that being stranded because of a flat/spin out/stall in below zero temps with no heat is extremely dangerous and potentially fatal.

What year is your Telluride? It sounds like the design may have been altered for the 2022 model. I'm going to do my best to bring awareness to the problem and hopefully get Kia to issue a recall and come up with a solution. It's irresponsible for them to tell their dealers/techs that it's a known issue but refuse to fix it - I didn't pay 45k for this car to be freezing 50% of the time I'm in it!

Mine is a '22 SXP, scheduled to be ready in late April, so I my driving exposure thus far is limited to the test drive I took back in July. Heat wasn't an issue at the time ;)

If I have experiences similar to what you've experienced, I'll be spending some quality time in the service department, and they'll see my smiling face on a regular basis until they can get it resolved. As you said, a lack of heat is unacceptable in this part of the world (or in any other part, for that matter!)

If you stop your car and leave it at idle in 0 degree weather how long does it take for the ambient cabin temperature to go from 70 degrees to 40?

Not an issue for me. In fact it heats up well at idle. Went skiing Sunday and when we were done, started the car as we were taking our gear off and loading our stuff. It was about 20F, heated up quickly at idle. No issue either of course in any other idling scenarios. Appears to be an isolated issue with a few.

My annoyance is the color of the infotainment screen. Purple?!

Rattle from second row captain chair or rear meaning 3rd row? I have an annoying rattle coming from the 2nd row passenger side captain chair when it's vacant. When someone is sitting there, rattle goes away
Sometimes the seatbelts get twisted when they retract depending on how the person takes them off. The buckles sometimes rattle on the plastic for me. I straighten out the seatbelt and it goes away.

Same here with the 2nd row captain. I tried adjusting the seat every which way. I can't stand it.

I drive in comfort mode and turn off the auto stsrt/stop 100% of the time. I seriously hate that feature although I understand it's purpose.

The steering wheel and seats heat up fine but I promise I'm not exaggerating when I say that we have no hot air blowing out if the car is below 2k rpm - in Minnesota. It's been in three times for repair and I was told at the last visit that it's a well-documented, known issue with Kia but the car is "working as designed" according to the manufacturer specs. (The engine is at the correct temp but the warm air isn't making it to the occupants.) This is SO dangerous in Minnesota - we literally had below zero temps last week.
Also in MN and noticed same. Now that spring is on the horizon the heat seems to blast out fine. May be just because it’s warmer outside.

In ND, never had an issue. I will say that I will have my auto temp set to 70 in my Honda and it stays toasty while I need to set the auto temp to 74 in the Telluride to get the same effect. Those things vary by vehicle I suppose.

I wonder if people realize that if you are in manual climate control mode and not auto that the temp dial works the same as a standard hot/cold dial. The temp reading only gives you a bearing as to where you are on the dial's range. So if you're in manual mode and you have the temp set at 72, you're pretty much in the middle of the hot/cold dial and you're going to get cool air in the winter.

We hired a lawyer yesterday to pursue via MN Lemon Law or a class action suit with the AG.

I was referred to Kia's escalation department last Monday and haven't heard back so we decided to move forward on our own. I even mentioned in my very first call to them on 2/25 that I was afraid this would drag out long enough for our weather to change and make things difficult to measure.... And that's exactly what has happened.

I think I have identified the location of the rattle, in the roof between the back and front sunroof! Driving me so crazy, I have been driving with my hand up there pushing it in. :)

What can you get for your car on Carvana right now? Would it not be cheaper to just sell it?

I’m a little dumbfounded on this. Would you be able to elaborate? In my experience, that hasn’t been much of an issue with one (1) exception.

- If idling in Drive, with auto start/stop active, it does tend to kill the AC or heat while stationary with the brake engaged or auto hold. I usually always turn the damn thing off right when I get in, stupid that it’s default active and no way to completely turn it off without a bypass module.

- While the latter of the two concerns, I’m not sure what you’re experiencing cause in my SXP AWD NF/T Telluride, I have heat at all in Park, Neutral, and any gear at any speed with the exception of the above i.e., auto start/stop. This goes for circulates heat, heated steering wheel, and all four (4) heated seats, I haven’t had a problem. If this is your issue, I’d say you have something faulty unless I’m missing something.
RE: Auto Start/Stop. I am waiting for delivery so this is not from my personal experience, but I have read a tip to cut a small piece of an old credit card and slide it into the gap next to the button to keep it depressed. Give it a try and let us know!

Also there is a harness you can install to keep it shut off at all times.

How do you turn it off? Seriously, I have not had/taken time to go through all the buttons.

This happened in my Honda too, so not just a Kia thing! For some reason my husband ALWAYS twists it up when he gets out! o_O

My biggest issue: Terrible remote start range. Absolutely horrendous.

- Reverse lights and license plates light are cheap halogen, Should be LED on a 50k car.
- Cabin light buttons are not illuminated
- Auto start can't be permanently disabled (I know there is a harness you can buy)
- Oil filter holder is plastic on plastic. Terrible to screw together.
- For 50k, I'd expect the headlights to turn when I turn the steering wheel.

There is a button on the left hand side right in front of your center console. Should be labeled with a A and a circle around it. Press that to turn off auto stop/start

A trick that I learned from a salesman is to put the key directly under your chin and hit the button, your head acts like an antenna. Haven’t had an instance where it didn’t increase the distance significantly. What non-ionizing radiation like that does in the long term is another issue…

Just duct tape the key fob to your head. problem solved

Gets better if you wrap your head in tin foil :)
