Would definitely look out of place if you just do the front. I was looking into them a few days ago before I added cover instead.
 
I wonder why they don’t offer pads for the rear? Is it because of the electronic parking brake? Is there a special tool that only the dealer has? I’m starting to put brakes on my radar and I would prefer to do them myself. But this is the first electronic parking brake system I’ve owned so I’m not sure how to do it.

It’s not hard. Just need a spare battery. A motorcycle one is easiest since it’s small. Hook the battery to the brake and it will wind and unwind depending on pos/neg.

Why wouldn’t I be able to do that same process from the Telluride battery without starting the vehicle?

Brilliant! I see what to do now. I have a golf cart with six 8V batteries. I can probably use one of those.

Gotta ask, why?
For me it’s because I got my brake job quoted: Kia brakes only came to $550, brakes and rotors $1,269. RockAuto advertises a bunch of OEM replacement options for no more than $150 including rear rotors. I don’t know that I would do the Brembo upgrade but to save a few hundred I would be happy to do a DIY brake install.

I would think the only reason to change brakes for this KIA is repeated warpage of existing rotors. You not going to increase the stopping distance to any appreciable degree, especially since you are only doing the front brakes. Heck, with these Brembo's, you might as well toss the rears since difference is stopping ability from Front to rear with grow exponentially. Of you do some custom brake bias valve, but that would only render the fronts a percentage of the capability to be in line with the rears. My advice would be to only do this as a set and look for increased rotor size and mass for both the fronts and the back. I have done this on several Porsches (installed 930 calipers after custom machining rotors) with great success. The issue I was having was brake rotor warpage under extreme usage running on closed tracks and the brake upgrade worked flawlessly. I'm hoping a better aftermarket rotor will become available for KIA.
 
I put some Advans on the Telluride as a test fit and hated the two pot calipers. When you have a nice set of wheels you want nice brakes to complement them. I hate seeing the small rotors as well. We are not taking our Tellurides to our next track day so I see no performance upgrade to this. I just have a fetish for nice brakes.

Hi all. I'm interested in Tellurides as a replacement for the minivan, and after living with brakes on our Minivan.. I can tell you it makes a difference. The van was "underbraked" from the factory as we were going through rotors and pads nearly every 30kmiles. The van had a single piston front caliper and a 308mm rotor... I changed to the heavy duty caliper and rotor and what a difference it makes. Dual piston caliper, 330 diameter rotor and almost double the pad size. There is no signs of wear on the rotors after 2 months.. and the braking is better, smoother, quieter. Because the van has 17" wheels it couldn't get any bigger.. than what I put on.

With optional 20's there's room for more brake than the base 18's allow. While I'm not autocrossing or track-day driving, all the city driving is hard on the brakes. Plus when it comes to brakes more is more.
