• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Map Update v16.0 Arriving May 5th

Has anyone encountered this problem? I followed kia's step by step instructions but this error message still pops up numerous times regardless how I tried:
- with car engine on
- with accessories mode on
- with updating in background while driving
- redownload software (twice) on a 128gb USB drive (copy & paste to USB thru both Kia update software and manually thru drag & drop on windows)

If you have an SX, you would be downloading the update files from the Navigation Updater tool.

Did you mistakenly try to download the files for the Display Audio Software Update? This is meant for S and LX trims MY2021 and MY2020.

Thank you for your response. Yes, mine is a 21 SX. And no, I did not mistakenly download the other version. I utilized the Navigation Updater Tool, and it even guided me to download the correct software for my car by the preselection of model, year, and trim.

is update after vehicle turned off greyed out for just me?
Mine was greyed out at first, then I started the car and was able to select that option.

I was getting an error about missing the audio files. I was using a 1 terabyte thumb drive. The instructions say you cannot use above a 64GB thumb drive. Got one and it worked. Also make sure it's formatted for exFat not NTSF. Hope that helps.

Yep, what Rich said, I did the same thing, used a 2TB drive since that's the one I had and I got the same message, switched to a 64gb and it worked fine

Got my Telly in April 2019 (model 2020), one of the first ones in Canada. It still has a 14300 odometer. :ROFLMAO:

Since the purchase, I have never updated my infotainment system/navigator, and the dealer never mentioned anything about that.

However, I installed the Navigator Updater software from Official Kia - Navigation Update Website, and when I select "2020-2021 Telluride", it shows:

"Updates Temporarily Unavailable" below > "Download for this vehicle is not yet available."

For model 2022, it is available.

Same problem, anyone?

Yup, same problem. I got mine the same month too!

Is there a fix? I wonder what would happen if I downloaded the 2022 update... ? (I won't, I've waited this long without updating!)

I would hope that, if there are differences between the model years, the update would recoginize the files aren't correct and not attempt to update but, alas, due diligence does not seem to be the order of the day lately.

I did that, and I tried to install version 2022 to see what would happen, knowing that I would receive an incompatibility message. The system reads the flash drive and files but informs that it is an incompatible version.

However, after seeing the new entertainment system version, I decided to give up on the update. I'll leave the original system. The interface is more sophisticated, and the home (split-screen/weather forecast/icons colour) is more elegant/classy, in my opinion.

The new pink/purple interface will clash with the sobriety I admire in the car. I want to update only the navigation system, but I will pass as it is not possible. I understand that the update fixes other bugs, not only changes to the interface. I have never had problems/glitches with the system.

If Kia ever ditches the pink/purple icons or lets us customize the colours and improve (a lot!!) the home screen (bring back the split-screen etc). I might consider updating it.

For now, when I am driving, I use 100% of the time Apple Car (Waze/Spotify/Google Maps). If I need an offline map, I will use Googe Maps/TomTom (download offline maps).

I agree with those that say the update is a royal pain. I have a '21 SXP that has the original software from October of '20. No option to update while the car is turned off. I tried doing it in Accessories mode, but the car automatically shut off somewhere between 40-60 minutes in. I turned the car back on to Accessories mode but then when I tapped "Update" it would only show the message "Update in progress. After a bit it flashed the battery drain warning. After starting the car the update started over from scratch. Since I have other things to do in the mean time, I'll have to try again later. It sucks I have to waste gas to make the update work and we'll see if the car automatically shuts itself off before the update is finished.

I also read somewhere in the thread that if you have older software you may have to run it twice? Isn't that special #sarcasm.

The latest instructions are decent to walk anyone through the download of the updater, and then setting up the USB (64GB) for the update. Downloading the files is excrutiatingly slow, even with USB 3.0 and the correct flash drive. The instructions are only OK until you get to the actual update. No description of the screens or what progress should look like or what to do when it completes. Or what to do should you encounter a problem.

You don’t really “run it twice,” but if you are updating from a very old version, you will notice that it seems like it does multiple updates.

Look in the list of files… you’ll see two system packages. One is for the new version (16.0), and the other one is for the version released in November 2020 (14.10, the first version with profiles and the new home screen). Basically, if you’re running anything older than 14.10, it will increment to 14.10, then it will turn around and do the latest update. If you are running 14.10 or newer, it’ll just install the latest update.

I ran into this when I updated my wife’s Palisade, which was running 14.5. It ran through the entire update process to get it to 14.10, seemed like it was done, and then immediately started updating again to get to 16.0. So it took about twice as long as it took me to update my Telluride from 15.5 to 16.0, because it essentially did two updates.

As I mentioned earlier, the list of available options for updating depends on what you’re coming from. They only recently began offering the “update after vehicle is turned off” option. So if you’re coming from anything other than a recent version, you won’t see that. So you’ll have to either run the car or keep close eye in accessory mode. It pays to keep the car up to date for this reason.

Definitely running a pre November 2020 version. On the upside, it seems to be running much faster with the car running. Anyone else experience this?

2 hours later and it's finally done. Had to reconnect with my kia uvo subscription. Had to re-create my radio presets. Like the list of stations. Still haven't figured out how to split the screen to see the nave on the left and radio on the right. Also, where the heck is the weather?

I have yet to see how the nav has improved.

What's new and cool for you?

Same as always… with radio playing, hit the map button to bring up the map. If it is taking up the entire screen, hit the arrow to the far right to bring in split screen. Swipe vertically on that right 1/3 to go through radio/media, weather, compass, clock, etc.
Also, where the heck is the weather?
The main app is in Kia Connect > weather.

You can also use it in split screen on the right 1/3 with another app on the left.

I have to laugh because even though I pay the ransom for the Plus package, the weather and stolen vehicle recovery are only available in the Ultimate package. If they cut the price in half, I would have signed up for it. I guess I'll have to stick with weather on my phone.

I must have a glitch on my UVO account. Weather is free with no paid subscription. Been that way after multiple and latest update. ✌️
