• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2023 Kia Telluride Discussion

I looked at a 2023 Telluride SX-P today and noticed the digital rearview camera image did not appear to be centered Vs looking at the rearview mirror with the digital display turned off. The center of the image was skewed by at least 3-4 feet to the left.

The sales associate and myself were both confused. So we went to the back of the vehicle and noticed the rearview mirror camera is mounted on the left side of the center brake light. The sales associate then showed me that the Calligraphy Palsiade has the rearview mirror camera actually centered below the center brake light, which results in the image actually centered on the digital rear view mirror.

I find it unfortunate that Kia designed it this way, and that they didn’t actually center the digital rearview mirror camera. It could lead to a false sense of perspective behind the vehicle. Luckily there is still of course the 360 Camera on the SX trim and above.

I attached photos of both a 2023 Telluride SX-P and a 2023 Palisade Calligraphy for reference.
Really Kia! 🙄

Interesting and nice find. The camera looks about a foot or less off center so I’m surprised at the large skew. Also since it designed that way, I suspect the camera may be mounted with a hairline skew to center it. It’s possible the Telly you looked at has the camera set incorrectly from the factory. I’d love to hear from others who get a chance to check this out on other 2003’s.
I looked at 2 different 2023 Tellurides that had the digital rear view mirror. A Midnight Lake Blue SX-P, and a Jungle Green SX-P X-Pro. Unfortunately both of them were skewed to the side. Hopefully they will issue a software update to adjust the center skew of the digital rearview mirror.

Thanks and bummer! That's crazy!!!

Dang- definitely places a dark cloud over what I thought to be a cool new feature.

Also interesting - if you check out this review... they test drive the 2023 and are using the digital rearview camera (you can tell since they have the video icon in the top left when they drive) and they don't mention it as an issue. We should reach out to them and see what they thought of it.

My understanding of this feature in cars is that you can adjust the picture. The camera has a wider field of view than show on the mirror and you can adjust it. I guess we will have to wait for confirmation.

I just reviewed the owners manual and it appears you can change the field of view up and down but doesn't mention that you can change it from left/right. I guess the important thing is the field of view. Even if it is skewed from a normal mirror - can you see everything and is it doing it's job? Just because the field of view is different, doesn't mean it's bad - it's just change. Overall it may be better? I guess only time will tell as we get to use it ourselves.

Is there a hidden service menu available on the back end of the software to make specific adjustments? Usually accessible on many vehicles with a unique pattern of button presses.

This is an interesting article. If you are in your late 40s or older, think twice before getting the digital rearview mirror.

Wow - very interesting article - thanks for sharing! I think the author goes way overboard on the uselessness of the technology. Seems like it's a great technology with people that are younger and/or don't have the sight issues. Definitely frustrating for us older folks! So I would agree, if you need glasses for close up objects and are the primary driver, may not make sense to purchase. With that said, if you frequently load up the cargo space, I'd imagine a blurry image would be better than no image.

I’m not that old but it’s definitely a feature I could care less about. You have side mirrors and a back up camera with cross collision alarm… how much more do you need to back up a car or drive with things blocking your view?

The only time I could see it being useful is if you have the trunk packed to the brim and enable it while you drive so you still have a rearview mirror. Very small use case though.

What are your markups?
I was curious (I'm in DFW area) so I looked. According to failcat, VIN 5XYP3DGC0PG324731 has a sticker of $47,315. According to dealer website its price is $54,315.

Of course, not sure if there are dealer add-ons in there as well, but those are the numbers.

So your dealership ordered a bunch to have in stock before changing existing '22 orders to '23s and/or accepting first-time '23 orders? Just curious how this works. Thanks!

Because we have market adjustments we didn't have a queue of people to fill through like MSRP dealers.

So everyone I put in a custom order on 23 last week all got filled with the exception of one.

Then Kia just assigned me a lot more for my dealer so I have quite a few headed to me now just open to reserve..

Boils down to pay MSRP and wait for however long depending on allocation and amount of people in queue.. or pay market adjustment and get right away with little to no wait. Luckily not a dealer doing the 10-20k market adjustment so my location is a happy median between the two.

Thanks @StephenCantrelle for explaining how that works. One additional question - how often does Kia pickup orders - I was under the impression that it was about once a month? So if you put in custom orders last week and they have been filled (all but one), does that one person and other new ones have to wait until next month before Kia picks up more orders or does that happen more frequently? Thanks!

Interesting - thank you, @StephenCantrelle !

Failcat observation: I was looking around to see if there were any Terracotta '23s yet but all Failcat lists is "Butterscotch", which then when you pull up the window sticker is Mahogany.
