Anyone Purchased from Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield, MO?

In December of last year I ordered a silver Telluride S from Jim Butler and the next day ordered a white Telluride S from Lou Fusz. The Lou Fusz one showed up the end of March (4 months). The Jim Butler one didn't show up until July (8 months). Not sure if this was just because of the color or because Lou Fusz does a higher volume than Butler.

I ordered a S AWD from them on April 1st after being told it would probably only be 4-5 months since it was a lower trim. Found out it was more like 8-9 months a couple months later. Cancelled 2 weeks ago because I found a EX-P AWD cancellation on the lot at Lou Fusz at MSRP. Was not impressed with Jim Butler’s communication what so ever. In my experience getting any information out of them was difficult.

Does anyone know if the deposit at Jim Butler is refundable or not?

anyone heard anything from their salesman yet? I called last week and was told "we will call if your order changes." just frustrating that we know more (or at least what they disclose) than a Kia salesman

I emailed my salesperson Thursday. He said they were working on orders from Thursday-Monday and mine would be converted by the factory. I emailed Friday and asked if anyone was going to call me to go over changes in trim levels and pricing. He says they’ll call once they get confirmation from Kia. I’m not sure what that means but I was also was frustrated and disappointed. Its been 5 months since I I ordered and I have not called or emailed for any updates since I placed my order bc they told me they’d contact me when my order needs to be changed for the ‘23s. Now that the orders are available for dealers I was hoping they’d reach out to me with more info. Hoping I hear something soon.

I had an order for a '22 since March 1st. Obviously, it did not materialize. Once I read on the forum that dealers were taking orders (which was last week Wednesday), I texted my sales person with the specs for the '23 and was told I'd get it "soon" (whatever that means).

Later that day, the dealership sent me an email just stating that they have been given the go ahead to start turning existing '22 orders into '23 orders and that they were getting emails, phone calls, and texts by the hundreds. Problem is that the builder is not yet up.

If you know what spec you want, I'd tell them. I'd guess the sooner they place your order with Kia, the sooner it would be picked up but who knows.

At least glad to hear I'm in a similar boat

Same here. I ordered an SX-P from this dealer in early Feb 2022 and was told 5-6 months. I reached out last week with the new spec when ordering opened for MY23 and was told that they entered it. No mention of where I am "in line" for that trim (SX-P X-Line). When I made the original order, I had no idea that wait would depend on the dealer. At this point, we've been waiting so long that I don't really want to start over with another dealer...but I have contemplated it.

Finally got a call from a third salesman now. My second is out a few weeks. My '23 was ordered, but he didn't know the conversations I had had with my previous salesperson. And since 23 SX X-Lines don't have gray interior they just assigned a random interior for me...

I asked him if I were to change my colors when the builder is finally available if it would reset my spot in line and he said "It shouldn't". Im not about to spend $50k on a vehicle without seeing what it will look like first and knowing what options I have. So, I'll change my colors sometime in the next week or two and see what happens.

Honestly if I get reset to the end of the line I'm just going to get my deposit back and move on. Kind of ridiculous that no one called before the order was placed. Has anyone else heard anything?

I've been trying to pin down my new, temporary salesperson to find out as much as I can about where we are in line. The most recent reply said I'm in the "top 10" and that he expects the vehicle to arrive in the next 2 months. I did some calling around and found that Lou Fusz Kia is also selling at MSRP (no deposit, but you have to submit a loan application so they "know you can purchase the vehicle"). Even though we're over 8 months in at this point, I have considered starting over with Lou Fusz since their volume is almost double what Jim Butler's is.

Yeah so if anyone is curious, the sales team at Jim Butler went ahead and guessed what colors you wanted if your exact colors weren't available with the change. i.e. if you had gray seats on an SX.......

They put in the order and send you a confirmation. If you want to modify that you get pushed to the back of the line. Lol. Looking at another 5 months now. Ridiculous.

Im putting in an order at Lou Fusz and Arapaho now.

@alyons What! That is terrible! Did you receive the bulk email from them a couple weeks ago saying that changes were fine and to just "let them know"? In my case, I reached out right before that email and told them the changes I wanted...different color and adding X-Line. I was assured twice by 2 different salespeople that I'm good to go without starting over.

When did you order originally?

Yeah. And I had discussed those changes no less than twice with my salesperson. Unfortunately, she is out for a few weeks for something. So the gentleman that put in the order wasn't aware of those conversations... lol. Cant make it up.

I ordered the second week of March. Looking at Aprilish delivery for mine now.

Alright, if anyone is wondering, Arapahoe in Denver is at a 6 month wait. The salesman I spoke with is optimistic that it will be in before that though. Reason being, they've had 90 Tellys allocated to them already. Not all of those are orders, but they match orders to their unallocated vehicles to get people in their cars faster. They require a $100 deposit and take orders over the phone. They will also reimburse you up to $400 for your plane ticket and you can drive it back. They require you buy carpet floor mats because they have so many people back out of orders and they have to buy them when they sell the car to someone else. They're $210.

Lou Fusz requires you to order in person and are at a 6-9 month wait. They don't require a deposit, but do require a credit application. Kind of strange. Im probably not going to do this because I don't want the hard credit hit 6 months before I actually purchase a car and I dont think they'll get mine in before Butler or Arapahoe.

I believe we talked with the same person. I placed a 2022 Telluride order through Jim Butler in March but in June I switched to a 2023 Sportage after the gas prices rose and seeing the images of the 2023 Telluride exterior changes. I was being patient but after 4 months of no updates I just called in and he said I'm 45th in line and they're only getting maybe 2-3 per month so I'm still really far away from getting anything.

He also asked if I was within 100 miles and that Kia is changing their system for out of state orders which might cause me problems, whatever that means. Sounded like BS to me. For a salesman, he was really trying to get me to cancel my order. I'm going to start calling around and seeing if anyone in the Midwest backed out of their orders that I could hopefully catch at the right moment to claim.

How can they only be getting 2-3 per month? Failcat and Telly stats show they’ve already gotten more than that. I am out of state too and my salesman never said anything about orders changing. 🤔

I never received any email from them. I had to email my salesman then call to get any updated info. He had updated my order to a ‘23 but thankfully it was what I wanted.

Read my post again. I switched from a Telluride to a Sportage. They're only getting 2-3 Sportage Hybrid's per month. My point is they aren't being very helpful and they seem to be lower on the allocation totem pole compared to other dealerships.
