2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

So We bought our 2020 in January of 2020. Almost right off the bat our rear end will thump and jerk on acceleration, more noticeable on a incline or a turn. When this occurs it also effects the cars acceleration. I have had it to the dealer three times, one of which the car was kept at the dealership so an engineer could be consulted. After two day I was advised that the dealership, by direction of engineering check the rear differential and reset the transmission. this fix lasted about a week. I have been advised by the service writer that Kia will have to Fix the car should anything happen, warranty or not. I am scheduling the car for yet another appointment, as this is way way past an annoyance.
Rensminger: Wondering if you found your problem. I has the same or similar problem. I would call my problem more of a shudder. The rear end makes a shudder noise and feels like the differential is slipping or skipping gears when turning left or right and accelerating at the same time. Dealer acted like it was nothing.

Also have this problem on our 2022. Started happening after we towed our RV last month. Hasn't gone away and it's getting worse. It's generally three shudders when accelerating from a full stop, turning left or right. Low speed only.

I have exactly the same issue with my 2020 AWD SE. Seems like the rear end is shuddering about half the time when I accelerate from a stop, especially when turning. I took it in and had the dealer look at it and they didn't find anything wrong, but they also spent most of the time looking at the suspension. I need to take it in for routine service next month and I am going to ask them to specifically look at the differential. A question though: given the symptoms, is it more likely to be the rear differential or something else in the drivetrain, like the transfer case?

Suppose it could be the transfer case. But I assume it's the differential because it feels almost like the tires a briefly slipping on wet pavement - except there's no wet pavement. I just made an appointment with the dealer for next Friday. I'll keep everyone posted on what they say.

Thanks, appreciate you keeping us updated. I had mine in for them to check it out about two months ago. I'll admit is it very slight but definitely there, they acted like nothing was happening and said to bring it back if it gets worse. I did ask about the transfer case, if they could check level or open it up for inspection and they said it was a contained unit, not serviceable. It really hasn't gotten too much worse and has been happening for about a year. At the beginning it was so faint that I thought they'd say I was crazy. I only took it in when I thought it was enough noticeable that they could troubleshoot it... not so much.

My vibration is back :(

I was one of the original folks that had this issue and had it resolved after a lot of work. At the time there was no TSB, so I'm assuming I'm one of the vehicles that eventually informed that.

Back at the dealer now for an undetermined amount of time while they go through the same motions again. We'll see what happens...

We spent 3-4 months going back & forth with Kia corp (engineers in Cali) and their field technician. They won't fix the issue. Possibly last time we have a Kia vehicle.

I have gotten a lawyer involved in the past, which has helped. I'm keeping that option open again.

If we do get it back repaired properly, we'll likely try to sell it ASAP before a new problem comes up. I think we got a dud, and I'm ready to get rid of it.

We really liked it when it was working though, and know lots of people who have been satisfied with theirs, so there's some temptation to try again with a 2023. But the battle wounds may be too much and we might be done...

Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you got a lemon, and no matter how many times you try to fix a lemon, it is still a lemon. I am currently on my 2nd EX AWD, both smooth as butter and ZERO issues. Give it another go, as I do not believe you will end up with another lemon, but if you do, I would haul azz to the nearest store to buy a Power Ball tix.

I'm slightly late but u have a 2020 Ex and and it's getting worse. I was at a stop light today and it jerked and had me thinking I was going into traffic. Did it a few times last week as well. 29300k miles

No, the dealer still Dosen’t notice it or thinks it is normal

Update about my saga. Long story short, I got it fixed but also traded it in for a 2023

- Took this to my closest Kia dealer (out of convenience), which was not the dealer where I originally purchased & had the first rounds of driveshaft/coupler repairs done
- That closer dealership was horribly mismanaged. They held my Telly for multiple days without touching it, no loaner, never answered the phone, etc. At one point I had to drive over there in my other car and walk into the service director's office just to talk to someone. That director happened to quit (or was fired) a few days later
- They eventually took a look at the Telluride, said some bolts from the last repair were crossthreaded and snapped, and it wouldn't be covered by warranty. They wanted 2500 for the repair
- I asked for the telly back, called the original dealer, and they agreed to take a look at it themselves to try to make it right
- I drove it over, they gave me a loaner, acknowledged the issue was their fault, but had it fixed for free within 24 hours (somehow they got a part in right away)
- While there I struck up a convo with my original salesman and asked about a trade-in deal
- He had a 2023 coming in within a month with the trim/colors I liked (SX X-Line in Jungle Green)
- Although I didn't get the perfect deal I desired, they offered a pretty reasonable value on our trade in so I put the deposit down.

Even though our 21 was working normally again after the most recent repair, we were too drained from all the issues we'd had with it and paranoid something would come up again.

I was hesitant to get another telluride, and started looking around again. But wife was against a minivan and there's still no concrete news about the redesigned Pilots. I was nervous about used car values dropping dramatically before we sorted anything out (they were already coming down a lot in October), so we decided to act quickly on a very fair tradein value from the dealer and a 23 that we could claim without a long wait. So here we go again!

Did anyone get told it could be a transfer case problem? Also has anyone had this vibration issue, had their car serviced in CT, and can give the name of a dealer who properly diagnosed/fixed the issue?

3 days owning our 2023 Telluride and we are noticing the steering wheel vibrations in the 65-75mph area on the highway.

Any other 2023s with the steering wheel vibration issue?
Has anyone actually had this problem solved with the TSB and the replacement parts?

The first thing to check when experiencing steering wheel vibration at speed, is to have the front wheels re-balanced. If that doesn't fix it then you'll have to dig deeper.

we tried like hell and fought with Kia for months about it. They would not sway from their stance that the issue was "bad tires" even after the tires were replaced with brand new tires and tested again. Techline will have the Kia repair technician running in circles trying all kinds of different stuff that just feels like a waste of time. Their field techs will use a vibration analyzer to assess the frequency of the vibration and then whatever their machine tells them they will stick to -- it's really pathetic because there's little to no analytical problem solving going on here. These guys and Techline won't assess a vehicle through process of elimination to determine the issue.

"our vibration machine tells us the issue is blah blah, so that's what it is. We don't care Mr Customer if you agree, now go away"

For whatever reason they're not too welcoming or willing to acknowledge this vibration is likely a bigger than what they believe it to be.

How's it been since getting the 23' ?
We just got rid of our 2021 for terrible vibrations and I'm super hesitant to try again on a 23' after the headaches we had dealing with Kia

No, I don't recall hearing from any other owners that the dealer mechanic said anything about the transfer case.

Personally I think there's an issue beyond the driveshaft & awd coupler, from what I've felt and experienced.

Is everyone with the vibration issue running stock rims?
we were, yes.
If I remember correctly, from those on the forum who have experienced this issue and reading about it over the past 2 years -- I recall very few if any having aftermarket wheels or saying the issue started after they swapped the OEM wheels.
