Popping in the rear suspension

Has anyone experienced a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle? My mechanic thinks it's coming from rear shocks but won't mess with it because self-leveling ones. Is this a warranty issue, covered under the 60k? Anyone had success getting this done? TIA

It's probably a bad self-leveling shock. We had popping/squeaking noises from the L rear from a bad one. Replaced by dealer and noises went away.

Well it is a bad levelizer. 2 days to diagnose. Said needed to order part so picked it up. 9am next morning get call that part is in...

So... brought in in for my leveler repair aaaaannnndddd... get a call saying that KIA requires both be replaced if one is being repaired. Well that's Good news, bad news... the idiots only ordered ONE. So now I get to bring it back again.

So spoke with the Service Tech today because both levelers replaced and sound still there (quieter and less often, but still there). Wants me to bring it again and they are going to take all the panels out and see what is going on... he said 'we will find this gremlin...'
So back it goes in 2 weeks.

Keep us posted. I noticed the "pop!" sound just a week ago and wondering if I need to bring it to the dealership to get it checked.

Sorry haven't been here in awhile. Took it in, couldn't find anything. Brought it back with the service advisory and they said needed to replace the self-leveler mounts/bushings...didn't have part. Brought it back and they did the work. Heard the noise again leaving the lot. Went back and they set me up to bring it back-wanted to take all the interior and exterior panels off to find the noise.
Flash forward 30 days... take it in for the deconstruction and they tell me they are replacing the whole self-leveling system.
Since then... no problems.

Thank you for replying with the update. When you say, “ the whole leveling system”, are you just referring to the self leveling shocks? Or was there more?
i take mine in on the 16th of this month to have the shocks replaced. Just curious if I should be getting more done.

It looks normal, no sagging or anything. Like the shock are blown and they have no dampening ability. My question is; we have 40k on the car and I wonder if this will be covered by the warranty. You should still be good to go as the bumper-to-bumper expires after 60K (or 5 years).
Take it to another KIA dealer with a better reputation. Nothing says you have to use the dealer you bought from.

Just got ours fixed for this same issue at 49K miles. They had to do the TSB first per Kia, but after the TSB was addressed which is a shock absorber/mount piece they still noticed an issue after installing the TSB fix which we knew would still have an issue. Turns out, leaking shock absorbers was the culprit so they replaced both rear shock absorbers - part number used was 55367-S9000. The TSB is CHA113.

My 2024 with 700 miles on it was making a similar noise -- highly noticeable when just pulling out of the driveway and going at slow speeds exiting my neighborhood. They replaced the right rear shock and that fixed it. Mechanic said they've had some problems with that.

KIA just issued a letter giving extended warranty on self-leveling rear shocks (15years , 180k miles) to address noise from rear suspension…
