If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Got my SX for a week. Everytime I look at it it looks like the car is not level and tilts toward the rear. I haven’t measured the heights on level ground yet. Could be the lower trim panel playing eye tricks on me.

Does anyone see this too?

Ps; nothing extra in trunk ; no passengers ; half tank of gas

It’s not that bad maybe an inch or two slope...

No tow pack.. just wondering whether the stance is naturally like that

Just ordered this weekend a SX with tow pkge. A month prior I did see a pre-sold SXP with tow pkge on the lot for a day and an EX w/o tow pkge sitting next to it. I also thought the same thing at the time, but didn't think much of it until now. I chalked it up to possibly different levels on the car lot pavement. I never rechecked as it's been impossible to find a Telly sitting on the lot.

I'm now debating on going back and canceling the order, then reorder without the towing pkge. Just to skip the self leveling mechanical shocks now that others are confirming what I thought I saw. I would still have them add the tow hitch once it gets to the dealership as I wouldn't tow very often, but want the flexibility to tow on occasion.

What are others thoughts? Anybody that has the self leveling shocks confirm or has anybody seen two sitting next to each other with and without confirm? I know as others have stated it will adjust once in motion, but my OCD might kick in every time I peak out in the garage for the first few months of ownership and it appears to be slouching in the back.

So I've started researching more and see photos of the two different shocks and see the size difference. Has anybody come across any review articles that noted a ride difference in the self leveling shock or anybody personally notice in a test drive with and without self leveling shocks a ride difference.

I'm trying to talk myself back into keeping the order as is and try to ignore the inch or two of slumping in the rear while it's at a standstill. If it's a better ride or beefy shock that will last longer in the end then I can deal with it as the norm.

Are you thinking that it is down farther in the back when it has the tow package or without the tow package? I noticed one in a parking lot and thought it looked low on the trunk end, but don’t know if it had towing or not.

With the tow package it sits down further in the back.

Was the one you saw sitting next to another Telluride? Maybe that's why I noticed it was the EX did not have it and the SXP did and the SXP appeared to sit lower in the back.

It was sitting solo at a grocery store. My husband would only let me do one loop around and I was looking I the rear view when I noticed it looked low in the back. Didn’t look long enough to see if it was towing and this thread was the first to address the same thing. Maybe I wasn’t seeing things that day. :)

Thanks for sharing your observations.

We have appeared to have confirmed that it does sit lower with the tow pkge. Now does the positives of the mechanical self leveling shocks outweigh the visual when parked?

IMHO it depends on preferences and and what you plan to tow. My thoughts are the self leveling isn’t needed and it might complicate proper weight distribution on a heavier trailer. With just a tow hitch receiver and standard shocks you can adjust your trailer weight and/or attach a weight distributing hitch to level the trailer. How would one work with the self leveling shocks? Hook it up, drive it for a few miles then after the self leveling shocks kick in adjust the trailer weight distribution?

From a cosmetic perspective what would be most helpful to see the 2 Telly’s side by side with and without tow pkge. Problem the rarity of seeing those on a lot together.

Anybody by a his and hers set of Telly’s, with and without tow pkge...please submit a pic next to each other;)

Yes, the SXP with tow package SEEMS to sit lower in the back. Kinda like a muscle car on take-off. I LOVE that look!

However, there is absolutely zero perceptible sense of not sitting level inside the vehicle. I loaded eight bar stools inside Sunday night from Sam's Club (which was seriously impressive btw) and she still drove and road with the grace of a swan. She also sat level with the load.

Regarding long-term reliability and potential problems, that is all pure speculation and not even worth the price of ink it would take to print it.

As for whether these shocks would complicate the weight distribution of a heavier trailer: ROFLOL....I am sure both sets of engineers (shock manufacturer and Kia) totally overlooked that.....not

IMO, the bottom line question is whether you like the look or you don't. Perception is reality.

Also this seems like an SUV, from the front 3/4 view, that looks to have a lower back than the front.

Here is another thread where this is discussed. People have measured S trim and SXP trim (w / Tow) and the wheel height was the same. So, it may be a design decision for a slightly lower back end.

Even without tow package, it does give the appearance of the back being lower than the front. See post above for folks who compared.

I’m not talking about the tow package or self levelling. Just the regular (not loaded) stance.

I hope I'm not the only one who peaks out in the garage when walking by the door for the first few months of owning a new vehicle am I?
Um ... no you are not the only one!
