Yes, they sit lower in the rear, tow package or not. Another thread said that it was a design element to improve MPG.

Where I am from the slightly lower rear end look is called bull dogging and many trucks are modified to look this way. Looks tough.

We have appeared to have confirmed that it does sit lower with the tow pkge. Now does the positives of the mechanical self leveling shocks outweigh the visual when parked?

I know this thread is old but are you saying the car will lift/level in the back when car is in motion? But not when parked?

That is correct. The self-leveling suspension included in the tow package is simply different springs and shocks in the rear. The springs are softer, and the shocks, in simple terms, have an additional valve that is only activated when extra squat is present in the rear. When this valve is activated, additional fluid is pumped into the shocks raising the rear of the vehicle back up. It’s the jostling motion of driving the vehicle that allows the fluid to move - meaning at a standstill the rear will still sag.

In other vehicles, the Telluride’s sister Palisade included, this type of suspension is marketed as a ride comfort feature, not a towing aid. Why it’s marketed as a towing aid on the Telluride is beyond me.

I don’t need the tow package but a dealer reached out to me that they got my exact car, just that it has tow and I’m wondering if I should just get it instead of waiting another 4 months

Get the one with tow package that’s available. The self-leveling rear shocks can help when there’s extra weight loaded in the rear of the vehicle. In fact, the style of shocks included in the tow package are marketed elsewhere as a ride comfort feature. The Palisade is one such example.
