My dealer says no more production for 2019??

I have a friend that owns a Kia dealership in Illinois. I want a white EX, but reports to me that there are none in the pipeline. His Kia rep states that production has ended for 2019 and will not resume until next year. Actually, all I really want is a white model, with bench rear seat and optioned like the EX. I’d take a SX if available. Kia tells him they will NOT be making the SX with bench; only captain chairs. Would anyone on this forum have insight on if, when or how I will be able to order or get in the pipeline for a white EX? Thanks in advance.

I just called my dealer here in Canada (mine is on order) and he stated to me that production hasn't halted, at least not for Canada but said he believes they are now into 2019.5 where slight changes have been made as they move forward with the 2019MY. For the consumer, it's seamless as they only know it as 2019. He said that for Canada the only change he knows of is that our limited (Prestige) model is now built without Nappa leather. Sometimes there can be certain improvements or changes in components as they move forward.

The auto union workers would lose their minds if this was true. The produced only 25,000 vehicles on a line that can easily produce 100,000 a year and just call it quits, sends everyone working home( with or with out pay?), and allows a multi billion dollar car facility to just go empty in the next 6 months?

Completely sounds legit.

I mean you can actually look online and see the cars coming off the line this week. Just go to the kia site, click on dealer inventory and it shows all vehicles being shipped to the dealer currently.

Right now over 10 vehicles are being directed to lots in portland oregon. Including a black dune sxp with towing

They are still shipping all models, they are making them as fast as they can, but if your dealer can not order them, then it is random luck if they can get them.

The Prestige package orders have been closed around May and haven't opened up yet. I have customers who have placed an order for an SX but if one of the Prestige becomes available I can sell them that one instead. We just got a shipment of 1 Prestige white that was instantly picked up. So they are still producing them just too many orders.

Here in Canada they ended up changing the SX Limited (same as Prestige) recently to having the option of ordering with or without Nappa leather. The nappa leather is the issue for the delay so now you can get them without it but still get all the other features of the Limited/Prestige.

Hello. I work at the plant that makes the Telluride. I can confirm that we are still running production as normal. We have not started the model year change. HKMC does not do 1/2 model year changes. We do complete model year changes. The Telluride is a model year 2020. Very little changes for the MY 2021.

I have been unable to find information about the assembly line process. Do you know if Kia makes all one color at once(a day or half day or shift, for example), or a certain trim line at once or is it what ever car is next in the VIN line?

They paint to specification of what the next car on the line is. I watched a video that the robotic painters switch colors on the fly. They do a purge of the spray line in between each color

We build all colors and trim levels through out the day. We are building SXP's to fulfill orders. Right now it is Telluride, Optima, Sorento on the line. Over and over again.

Given what you said and the fact that my dealership just called me about my order shows that he doesn't know what he's talking about. He told me that they haven't been able to even put my order in the system yet as it's not allowed for an SX Limited. I ordered it over a month ago with him. He also said that the SX limited has not been released in Canada yet. There's posts on here with people showing pictures of the Canadian SX Limited they've received with the nappa leather. Unreal!
