If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... With the MIA status of Failcat, I was looking for a way to search dealerships' inventory efficiently. As it turns out, the KIA dealer locator tool on the website is more up to date than even the dealers' websites.

1. Punch in a zip code that is in an area you would like to search and the KIA.com website will list dealers within a 100 mile radius.
2. Look at each dealer's inventory shown on KIA.com and see if it has what you are looking for. If not move on to the next dealer.
3. Go to the dealer's website and see if the KIA.com inventory matches. The dealer website usually doesn't have incoming units. Also check for pricing and add ons (sometimes they will be honest and list them)
4. When you find what you are looking for, call the dealer and ask for the out the door price, OTD will show any add ons and doc fees. DO NOT talk about payments!

This requires some leg work, but in 2 days I found exactly what I was looking for, in stock, and at a good price.

Thanks for the tips! Dare I ask where you bought at MSRP? And how did you identify which dealers are willing to sell at MSRP?

We've had an order at MSRP in since Dec that our dealership can't seem to fill (Nutley Kia in NJ). We're growing restless as my current car is dying a slow death. Another local dealer wanted MSRP +$12K. I just laughed and walked out.

I called a bunch of dealers who the KIA dealer locator showed they had what I was looking for and also looked at their websites to see if they had any markups listed. If they had no markups or very small ones, they went to the top of my list to call. Ricart Kia in Columbus had no markups and only a $795 Protec package, that coupled with they low doc fees of $250, I pulled the trigger. Bill Amey picked me up at the airport and everything when smoothly as silk. Tell him John (Doug) sent you.

There is hope for everyone looking, especially if you want MSRP or close to it.

Attempt sale on last day of month. Especially true if you go to a "high volume" dealer that needs to meet the monthly quota. In NJ, most Kia dealers are not "high volume". Nutley is not. Cherry Hill Kia is, and I believe Freehold is. Even if you don't wait for the last day, they have more inventory than everyone else and therefore the markups are way less. Simple supply and demand.

High vol dealers will have at least 10 Tellurides available on thier website, sometimes up to 20. Have you ever seen more than 5 on Nutley Kia's site? It's not because they sell a lot, it's because they don't get a lot. So you and everyone else waiting in line at Nutley drive up the price when sale time comes. And you'll prob get less for your trade in too.
