  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I-95 going through Fredericksburg, VA is a war-zone disaster of construction for about 30 miles. Never seen anything like it and it has been this way for several years and with no end in sight. They are bringing down the DC metro to Fredericksburg, extending the toll HOV lanes, building new bridges across the Rappahannock. Literally, it might take another ten years and then because the population and traffic have doubled, they'll start over on another upgrade. For those of you who may be traveling this route, do yourself a HUMONGOUS favor and plan ahead and totally avoid Fredericksburg, VA. Take the scenic route and avoid sitting stuck for hours on end. TAKE HEED!

Drive from Pittsburgh to Wilmington routinely and being that I had children in Alexandria and Charlottesville would sometime be forced to take 95. Never a trip without issues. Use 79 and 77 through West Virginia exclusively.

Wilmington, NC? Delaware? Do you routinely visit both children during same trip?

This sounds like the Big Dig.

I've been watching this thing get progressively worse for the last few years to where now it is just a standstill. With all the construction I mentioned, I forgot to add all the new overpasses, new feeder highways, both north and south of Fredericksburg. Even during good years, there was so much traffic on 95 that you had to plan your trips during night hours -- heaven forbid if you should hit it on a holiday weekend. But now -- I'll let someone else describe it 😆

It truly sounds terrible. I am sorry you are in it!

I just drove down from PA to Myrtle Beach yesterday and luckily avoided most of 95 by taking 81 down to 64, 64 over towards Richmond, then 85 down past Raleigh before jumping back onto 95 to get to Lumberton, NC to head towards Myrtle. I figured with 95 traffic, while the trip outlined above may be longer, it would be less time than going 95 and getting stuck in multiple traffic backups.

Worse mpg 24 mpg for most of the trip (mixture of mountains, hills, and then flatter lands), 27 (mostly flat 135 miles) and 30.3 mpg (approximately flat 31.2 miles) for shorter stints.

Based on what I was seeing, I would have had about 450+ range with the fuel tank, maybe up to 470, but it would have been pretty dry at that point.
