Car's Nav and WAZE

I have found out that I cannot run the car's Nav and WAZE (or Google Maps) at the same time and have them appear on the split infotainment screen. You ask why would I want to do this? A couple of reasons:
1. The car's Nav is not as accurate. Seems like sometimes it goes off kilter in the middle of a route and then corrects itself as you get closer to the destination.
2. BUT, of the three choices, it is the only GPS that provides turn-by-turn to appear in the HUD - a feature that I really enjoy.

So, I want to always have a 2nd GPS running in addtion to the car's Nav. I realize I can do this simply by turning the phone's bluetooth off and then use WAZE or Maps on the phone's screen. But it would have been nicer to get them both on the infotainment split screen.

Yep. It’s one or the other. Our other car with CarPlay does the same thing so it seems it is not just Kia.

Also just discovered today that I cannot run Waze and SiriusXM at the same time. If I want to listen to Sirius, and also want a GPS, I have to use the onboard NAV.
This is probably something in CarPlay - not a KIA issue.

I can run Sirius XM and Google Maps (via Android Auto) at the same time.

Start AA and pull up my maps or whatever else I want. Turn off any music apps (I have both Pandora and Spotify there as options).

Hit the *Radio* button on the dash and choose the Sirius XM station I want (or the FM station). I have a bunch of presets.

Once Sirius XM is playing, I navigate back to AA and can see my maps while I'm listening to SiriusXM.

When I get XM playing and then navigate back to CarPlay - I lose my XM and at the same time my CarPlay starts playing songs from my phone.

Best practice would be to program your star button to phone projection (CarPlay/AA). That will get you back to CarPlay without stealing the audio focus. You could also do it by tapping the CarPlay icon from the car’s home screen. If you try to get back to CarPlay via the media button or similar, it’ll think you want to play media from CarPlay.
