• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hold on, I need to climb up on my soapbox.
Once upon a time I drove thru a parking lot sans seatbelt, after dropping my in-laws at the restaurant door. 45 seconds later onlookers were calling for police and ambulance because some delightfully distracted twerp ran straight into me. Significant head denting (mine!). That was the very last time I ever drove anywhere without my seatbelt fastened...
Also, an insurance geek, I can tell you that 5 and 10 MPH crashes without a seatbelt can and do kill. Seen it way too often.
Okie dokie, I'm off my soapbox now. Feeling much better.
Yep your right!!!!! Thanks

Does anyone have any quirks that they'd like to discuss?

I've got one: I dislike how it automatically turns on cooled/heated seats when the temperature outside is either too hot or too cold. I finally figured out a way to disable this annoying "feature" as I like to be able to control myself when and if to turn on cooled/heated seats.
Funny ... I love that feature. Never remembered in my last vehicle to turn it on when I needed it ...

I'm going to have to check this setting. I too think the SCC brakes way too late for my taste. Based on what you said, I must have set it as "SLOW"

EDIT: So, my setting was on NORMAL. I can't image how SLOW would react if I don't like NORMAL! I set it to FAST, lets see if that makes a difference.
Still waiting for my order of an SX Prestige and have been curious about the SCC feature and I can't find anything to answer my question by searching the forum. Maybe you can help. Does SCC only work on highways or at highway speeds? I commute through Denver, CO and although it's a highway it's gridlock traffic for about 10 miles after I merge onto said highway. Will SCC work in this situation or do you have to achieve a certain level of speed before being able to activate it? Also, what about regular roads that have speed limits of 30-40 MPH and traffic lights? Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere. Thanks in advance.

Scc will perfect for highway grid lock. I can't say as much about in city gridlock. I'm stuck in DC gridlock on the highways and it's a god send in stop and go traffic. You will have to tap on the accelerator to restart it if it stops for more than a second or so.
The places I don't trust it is when there are turns that are anything more than a gradual turn. Also anywhere the lane markers are not we'll defined.

Super helpful! Thank you

I used it today in a standstill backup on the interstate from a multi-car chain reaction wreck. It was great! The car practically drove itself through the gridlock with the highway driving assist, smart cruise control and lane assist. I didn’t have to do anything— the car did it all! And yes, the CC works at any speed.

You don't have an HD radio signal near you carrying this information.
No, that’s not the case with me. The HD stations & FM stations that I received in my previous Volvo, and still receive in my X3 parked next my Telluride, either don’t register(HD radio) or have slot of static when I enter the garage of my building. Some of the FM stations cut in & out with static, while they are perfectly clear in my BMW parked next to the Telluride. For some reason, the antenna is weaker on this radio.

Agree- FM HD antenna is not very good on mine- GM and Volvo (and replacement pioneer in my little ranger truck) all get better coverage.

How do you manually control the heated/ventilated front seats?
thank you.

After the first 1000 KMs with my Telluride I decided to jot down a few quirks and issues. Overall, love the car, the look and styling. For reference, our prior family car was a 2016 Volvo XC90 and 2011 Subaru Forrester. I have a Kia Optima already and am a big believer in Kia and their product!

2020 Telluride SX (in Canada we have AWD, Full Safety Packages and 20” Wheels (not black)

Feel free to comment and let me know if you feel the same way (or disagree):

In no particular order...

The Quirks/Issues:

Matte Chrome trim on outer door panels upper (near windows) attract smudge marks easily. Think refrigerator door.

Auto start Off button – should be allowed to shut off permanently not a per trip reset

Front outer armrests I found narrow

Fit finish upholstery and trim panels – I found the trim and fit and finish quite good esp where your eye sees (dashboard, upper panels) however once you go deeper and down there are definitely some trim and fit issues. Our model had a number of bad upholstery trims and plastic fits where you can see where KIA’s volume car roots comes from…and oversight in assembly. I might put in another article.

Menu button on Home Screen – on the LCD there is a “Menu” button on top left. You would think pressing this intuitively will take you to the main screen but it takes you to a config setup. Menu is always the main screen in any PC!

Front hood carving – the front hood is styled with a V shaped feature which indents the hood. I find myself distracted by this. The sunlight reflecting off the metal is distracting to me as a driver. I’ve gotten use to it but its definitely is a prominent feature in front of your face every day.

Gas consumption bad – I haven’t done any measures. But gas mileage seems to be a lot worse than I expected. It seems to suck more fuel than I expected even in “ECO” mode.

SX wheels – We all agree the SX 20” alloy wheels are no good (aka Heart, Fox shape). I agree.

Seatbelt indicator – Kia went overboard on the “No Seatbelt” indicator. Loud and persistent and stays on for too long. I thought of a place where this is bad. If you take off your seatbelt to try to lean over and kiss your passenger, good luck, the indicator (loud and annoying) will certainly kill the mood!

Sharp door panel — Front doors have deep and quite long plastic trim bottom panels. The corner of them are quite sharp and I’ve left a gash in my shin from hitting them accidentally. Its quite curved too which allows it to “catch” pants and legs easier. If it was metal there wouldn’t be the ‘sharp and pointy’ edge which plastic produces.

Nav while driving – You are unable to use / type Nav while driving. Often, I tell my wife to program the Nav while we drive. Unless my car is off or in P she can’t program the Nav.

Dual exhaust – a SUV like this needs dual rear exhaust on both sides. It would look much better.

Steering wheel size – I find the steering wheel size a bit small. I like driving with my hands inside the 3-6 position but they don’t seem to fit the small slot very well. And I have small hands. I find myself struggling to find a comfortable hand position (other than 10/2 of course)

Hot screen in hot weather – NAV screen gets quite warm in direct sunlight. Its position on the dash of course it will get hot but it seems abnormally warm for an electronic device.

What's your observed MPG?

Exactly! just put the Home button on the far left.

Wait What?

I find the two steering wheel supports at the bottom 4 & 7 position to be very reflective. Sunlight is reflected and looks to be a flash that gets my attention while driving, a distraction and sort of a pain, why so reflective?

After having ours for a few months we have had several of the issues discussed above, along with a few others.

Most frustrating is the unpredictable rear AC. When synced, the rear AC stays active if I come back to my car in a short amount of time. If it’s been a while, it turns off (very frustrating). I just want it to retain the previous setting. Getting the rear AC screen to load (among the normal GPS disclaimer and backup camera if you’re trying to get going quickly) takes forever and isn’t something I want to interact with. I just want the AC to stay the way I left it.

Similarly, the idle shut-off feature is annoying with respect to the AC. If it’s hot and I have it set to auto, I don’t want it cutting the fan speed down because I’m stopped. I haven’t figured out a good way to disable this without pushing the button on every drive. With the Texas heat I usually just want the AC blasting to reach the desired temperature.

I can’t find a good place to store the factory cargo cover when the third row seat is up. It’s just a smidge too wide to fit in the back. Would love to hear any thoughts from someone who manages to store it in their car! Otherwise it just sits in my house and goes unused.
