• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Auto Start/Stop: Can you disable it permanently?

Is the AutoStop a federal or EPA mandate? It seems like a new model cars and manufactures, since like 2017 have AutoStop. Is this like the water restrictions in toilets and shower heads mandated by the feds?
yep

Question?

After installing the Auto Stop patch cord, (disable mode) does the LED light illuminate on at Auto Stop button/switch near the center console?

Everything works exactly as it does including all the indications with the exception that your setting is preserved when you turn the car off/on. So if you have the autostop off, next time you start the car, it is still off and vice versa.

Basically with the unit, it works the way it should.

You know, it never occurred to me until today. Sometimes, or actually several times when the AutoStop is not disabled, it temperary cuts off the audio, or diverts the audio to the center mono speaker in the dash. The patch cord, (on order) will eliminate this. That's going to be fantastic, because it's a very annoying when the audio cuts switches over to mono and back.

If it eliminates that, then it's worth it exponentially!

You may have something else going on. In two cars, I have never had ISG cause that problem.

I could be wrong. Yes, we have auto stop in wife's car, (and in previous cars). Perhaps I may be incorrect. The audio does cut out for something....could be something else, like the motion sensors. Never mind, thanks though.

Don't think it's federally mandated but not sure. My 2023 has it, my 2020 telluride had it my 2022 Lexus es350 does not have it.

The fact that most cars have it and it is essentially the same system throughout and that no one offers a way to disable it beyond one ignition cycle - this tells me it is not a KIA thing (with proprietary rights). This obviously came down from the mountain.

Update:
I found this

Is auto start-stop federally mandated?
2023 in effort to curb carbon monoxide, rollaway deaths. By November 2023, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) must release new keyless ignition vehicle safety regulations, which will include requiring OEMs to install a system that would automatically shut engines off if they're left idling for too long.Sep 14, 2022

I bought it directly from the company - you have to choose the car make. Free shipping as I remember.

It is a pretty simple install, but I would advise to have a second person assist in keeping the console raised while you attach the zip ties. There ain't much room or light.

I can think of a situation where I actually might want to have ISG working and that would be if I were stuck for hours on an interstate due to a long traffic jam and I had very little fuel.
Thank you so much just ordered one!

Interesting! The telluride system works off the brake pressure as on my 2024 sx as I come to a stop, I relax the pressure on the pedal and the start stop does not shut down the engine and still stops the suv. It takes a while to get the feel of this but now it's second nature. I did not install the wiring harness on the 2024.

Are you confusing this with the Auto Hold?

No, the start /stop system. I just relax my foot on the brake a smidgen as the Telly comes to a stop and the engine will not shut down.
Truth.

I prefer not to have the auto stop/start on (I started this conversation). But I have left it on a few times knowing I would prefer to have it engage at a particularly long light. And my braking habits tend to thwart my intentional use of it.

It makes sense. If you come to a stop and the system engages with the engine shutting off, all it takes is a slight release of the brake to start it again.

I can totally see how you could leave it on and train yourself to pretty much never let it engage.

That is correct. Some find it an expensive fix, others (like me) enjoy not having to remember to turn the damn thing off each time you get in the car. I've had installed now for a couple of months and it was money well spent!
Installed the Auto-Stop Eliminator today. Love it. Thank you so much for the intel!

I have had mine ever since owned it and it's very easy to install. Won't void the warrantee as well because your using a harness not splicing wires. Even my Kia sale rep texted me to send her the link so she would promote it for any of her future customers.

Best $100 I ever spent ............LMAO!

I can't get why everyone is so happy with the eliminator for $100 when Nac posted a perfect solution earlier in this thread. And it costs less than $1 and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

I've put a 2kOhms resistor between pins 8 and 24. With this, ISG is constantly off and I've never experienced any issues with it (3 months so far).

I think it's because until now, there was no photo. If there had been a YouTube video, or your photo, and if NAC's post wasn't buried on Page 1 of this thread, where many may have jumped into this thread after his post, (and never saw NAC's post), I'm sure people would have performed your bandaid.
