If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... my 2020 SX-P with the Tow package has been making a clunking sound. It started very minimally and seemed to be coming from the left rear. I had the dealer look at it during routine service and they suggested waiting on doing anything further as it was very minor. It seems to be getting slightly louder and more frequent. The sound is almost like something is loose in the suspension, but it doesnt happen consistently. Sometimes it will happen when backing out of my driveway when the rear suspensions articulates at the bottom edge, but sometimes it just happens when I am driving in a parking lot. I also dont tend to hear it at all at higher speeds. I have 67k miles on the vehicle, new brakes and tires, but all of that was checked and nothing seems out of spec there. Anyone having similar issues or have any suggestions? Has anyone had to replace rear suspension by this low of mileage?

Could be a failed bushing in the rear suspension. First step is to put someone back there to listen, then drive around until the noise has been localized. That is the first step to a diagnosis.

I'm experiencing the same issue and have an appointment at the dealership on 6/26 to get it checked out. '22 EX with towing package and 24K miles, mostly city. Started maybe 5K miles ago as a light clicking/tapping sound coming from the rear passenger side. At first I thought it was the dangling seatbelt making contact with the plastic interior. Ruled that out and it has progressively gotten louder and more frequent. I'm also experiencing it at low speeds, particularly when turning from a complete stop and pulling out of the garage into the alley. Never at cruising speed.

I negotiated for the highest level of warranty upon purchase (using the Muncie pricing as my leverage). Reluctantly hoping whatever needs to be done is covered.

Clunking sound in rear suspension.....
I have a similar noise and have narrowed it down to the rear spring and the spring perch. If I open the rear hatch and move the drivers side up and down I can hear it. It is a raspy noise, not loud but very annoying. The dealer so far hasnt been helpful and I figure they think I am nuts.
Does this seem to be similar to your noise? I am not sure about the shocks either. The Telluride has 27,000kms on it and has the self levelling shocks. It does sit low.
It is a 22 Nightsky model.

My 22 Nightsky has a noise that I have isolated to the rear spring and spring perch area. Its like a scraping noise that can be heard when hitting small bumps or variations in the pavement. At higher speeds it isnt heard. The dealership hasnt been much help in fixing it and I am sure they think I am nuts.
Any ideas that would alleviate this annoyance???

I’m convinced now that the TSB posted above should have been caught and dealt with and this was a miss by my dealer. It perfectly describes the type of noise I am hearing

Update after spending 5.5 hours at my dealership yesterday. (24K maintenance, oil change, 3 recalls, and the suspension "diagnosis"). I came prepared to wait :)

2 separate guys came and told me they couldn't replicate the issue and said it would be a couple hours to properly look into it. I called their bluff and said sure go ahead. 10 minutes later they came back and I requested a ride along test and drove it myself. Sure enough it was clearly noticeable.

They want me to drop off the vehicle in 2 weeks (when a loaner is available and the 7/4 holiday calms down). They will take off the part, document and send pics to KIA and *hopefully* "replace under warranty since the car is practically new" as the guy helping me said. We'll see!

Mine has been clunking for about a year now. Finally took it into the dealer to get looked at along with a couple recalls to get taken care of. I mentioned that I believe the clunk noise is related to the self leveling shock and TSB-113 as mentioned above. They looked at it and said all the oil had leaked out of the shock and replaced it with no issues.

I have been having the same issue and it sounded as if it was coming from the right rear. Going over bumps, etc Took into Kia and was told the shock insulator needs to be replaced and is under warranty This is the bulletin put out by Kia

"This bulletin provides information to replace the rear self-leveling shock insulator and locking nut on some2020-2021MY Telluride (ON) vehicles produced from January 1, 2019 through December 1, 2020 which may exhibit noise from the rear of the vehicle while driving over bumps or on a bumpy road"

Hopefully this is the issue. Waiting on parts to repair

Yes.

My '21 Telly experienced the problem around the same mileage as yours.

There's a known issue with the self-leveling rear shocks/suspension.

• Knocking, clunking sounds from the rear.

• Stiff ride. Almost no compression even sitting on the edge. Loose items in the back were jumping when going over speed bumps.

At first, I just lived with it a few thousand miles then got a tech from my local Kia dealership's service department to drive around with me, listening to the easily reproduced clunking/knocking noise. We went over some speed bumps and turned into driveways, etc.

They contacted Kia, got the okay to cover the replacent parts, I paid about $300 labor.

The appointment took a couple hours wait and then the Telluride was back to normal.

after 60 thousand miles - the isolator and shocks are not covered, according to my dealer. The shock parts were quoted at $800 EACH! Normally driven vehicle with zero towing and 99% with 1 person in the vehicle. Isolator bushings quoted (parts and labor) at $420.

VERY PISSED TO BE TAKEN TO THE CLEANERS!

How many miles. Just took mine in and I have extended warranty and they won’t cover it

My Telluride is a 22 model and seems to exhibit the sounds associated with bulletin 113. Is it possible that the problem relates to vehicles built after 2020?

Did you get the problem resolved.....what was it?

Dealership has located the source. They say it is the left rear strut plus the strut is leaking. I assume this means the shock absorber. Anyway the part is on back order with no ETA. While I still have the noise , at least there hopefully an end coming.

Kudos to Clarington Kia. They diagnosed the problem as the rear left shosk absorber, obtained the part and problem solved.

Same clunking sound from the rear. Local dealer (Fred Beans Kia of Langhorne) said that both rear struts need to be replaced under warranty. They are expecting the parts on Monday. Fingers crossed this will solve the problem.
