• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

So is this vibration issue in AWD models or has anyone experienced this on any FWD? Have only driven about 250 miles so far, just want to make sure I understand what to watch for.

Every person that's reported a vibration thus far has had all-wheel drive models. Trim level doesn't matter.

The few FWD owners that have chimed in have said they have no such issue. That being said, there are apparently very few FWD out there.

I just tested a FWD 'S' and it seems fine, so I'm getting swapped out of the AWD that I purchased that had the vibration and bad transfer case.

Thank you so much for your response. I’m so bad with detecting vehicle issues just wanted to know what to look for. My hrs and always drives my vehicle and says did you notice that noise? I’m like no, what are you talking about. Lol. 🤷🏻‍♀️

FordRN, if you go through the posts, you'll see descriptions of what we're experiencing. It's an obvious vibration. Most of us experience it at speeds between 67 and 76MPH or so.

Thank you soo much!

All right, gang. I pulled trigger on the FWD 'S' (Ebony Black w/ black leather). Test drive was perfect. Same price as my trashed LX AWD, so the swap was simple.

The dealer is renewing our three Six Flags season passes for my troubles. That costs more than one month's truck payment. His idea, not mine. I thought that was pretty cool.

My salesman was aces through the whole ordeal. He told me on the side, Kia must address the AWD issue and doesn't see how dealers can still sell them if they know there is a problem.

So again, to those with trouble-free AWD and FWD, I hope they always remain that way. To my fellow TelluVibes, I hope Kia resolves your issue quickly or you work something else out as I did.

I'll continue to watch this thread and others on this great forum. It's important we share information like we've been doing, as it can be a big help!

Glad you were able to work it out to your satisfaction! I hope it is smooth riding for you from here on.

Glad your dealer stepped up to the plate and did the right thing. Good luck with your new ride!

Bravo for your efforts to make it easier for those who come after you. Hopefully the TelluVibe club becomes extinct!

Picked up my Telluride from the service department after 16 days... Here is what happened...
1) Found slight bend in passenger rear axle and replaced it. Did no good.
2) Drove without rear drive shaft and verified that vibration stopped.
3) Were told to check transfer case oil for metal filings - found what looked like gold paint flakes. Kia was interested, then not interested.
4) Tried to get rear drive shaft balanced and no one around Cincinnati could do it.
5) Kia told service to replace rear drive shaft. It will arrive at or about October 8th
6) Told me to pick up Telluride.

I purchased this vehicle on June 8th and the problem was there right away. It will be 4 months since purchase before the new drive shaft will be installed. One Third of a year wasted in trying to get Kia to first believe/admit there was a problem and then trying to find a solution. I am not convinced that the vehicle will ever be what it should have been from the beginning.

I must say that this latest service department has worked hard to get this solved. Every step of the way they must do what Kia says to do.

CincyTech! That sucks! What a shame. Hopefully Albert Ruiz's apparent progress will help.

Based on some dealers' attitudes, they just want to sell, sell, sell. Apparently, Kia's selling 5,000 TelluVibes a month and can't keep them in the lot.

Sadly, the last AWD I tested (which was bad) is proudly being displayed in front of my dealer's showroom. I feel for whatever unsuspecting person buys it.

Which dealer you at in Cincy?

Update...
They contacted KIA and passed on all the information I gave them on others on this forum having the same issue. KIA is sending Engineers and Mechanics to look at my vehicle on Friday.

I’ll take my Telluride out tonight but I can’t say I noticed a vibration around those speeds. LX AWD built June 21st. I have however off and on heard a buzz in the engine compartment I believe is connected to the fuel injection system somehow. Or some plastic vibrating somewhere when I’m on throttle.

Update: I can MAYBE detect the SLIGHTEST vibration between the 65 to 74 speed range. Nothing I think anyone would ever mention or notice if I didn't ask about it, or maybe even if I did. Judging on some of the posts in this thread I'd say I maybe escaped this one.

So back on the subject of the vibration problem. I took my SX AWD in last Friday. I told them that I felt vibration and heard a strange noise around the 70mph mark(Told them about this thread). Later that day I get a call from the dealer saying they verified the issue and the spent the day with techline trying to figure out what do to(Got no where). I dropped my vehicle last night. They will have it for two days. Hoping they can figure something out.

Do you mind sharing what Cincy area dealer you are using? I'm going to be in Dayton for a while for work, might be worth taking mine in to them, since they seem to be up to speed. My dealer down here keeps saying it's normal characteristic of the Telluride and tech found no problem. I am so close to trading this vehicle in on something else.
