KIA Telluride vs Hyundai Palisade Quality

@zhelder got me thinking when he mentioned that the KIA Telluride is built here in the United States while the Hyundai Palisade is built in South Korea. Which SUV do you feel will be of higher quality? I think this will be a great discussion as time goes on and we compare the two big SUVs...

The West Point Kia plant is much newer (2009) but smaller than Ulsan Hyundai campus. Lots of parts for Kia originate from Korean suppliers though.

There’s also a plant in Mexico which is part of the Americas. The West Point is the only plant in the US.

The MX plant in Monterrey also cost a billion dollars but it’s 7 year newer than West Point.

As a Georgian I think that the West Point Plant will produce a better product.

The engine and transmission for both vehicles is made in Korea. As are several other important parts. West Point simply assembles. They used to make engines but that didn’t work out great.

I live in Ohio and would much rather have a Georgia produced vehicle vs Korean. Too bad I like the Korean built pallaside better

My wife used to work at Volkswagen as a service writer. The build process is very important. VWs that were built in Mexico had a much higher rate of service issues than those built in Germany. The major components came from Germany...

Of course, factory worker is paid 5000€ in Germany, and in Mexico probably 250€(this I’m guessing).

My cousin works in Mercedes factory there and they pretty much work in scrubs, quality control is unbeatable. What I want to say is when you pay your people fair amount and give them best working environment with benefits, product has to be top quality. Can’t have someone working on delicate parts of the jobs while they’re thinking how to feed their kids.

Window sticker on Telluride says trans is country of origin; usa.
