Order to delivery time

I ordered mine last week and no salesman told me about the optional accessories that could be added (and which, if they can be dealer installed, cost more from dealer than from factory). Now, I asked if those could be added, and they tell me the order cannot be changed even 5 days later? Come on. I did not put down deposit and really want to stay at this dealer (others are not so good and require deposit). They make us wait 4 months, but after 5 days, the order cannot be cancelled, redone, or modified? Bull I say!

I placed my order on July 27th and 3 days later decided to add go back and add the tow package without any issues.

Something doesn't smell right here...KIA requires a deposit before a dealer can place a special order. Dealer has to send KIA the order and proof of deposit before KIA will accept the order. This keeps dealers from just randomly ordering and calling them sold orders to get more allotment. KIA got wise to that game and started requiring proof it's sold so something really doesn't sound right about this. Plus 4 months for delivery? Sure smells funny to me.
wrong on requiring a deposit. the deposit is the dealers requirement, not KIA for when I ordered mine no deposit was required and the ordered was placed the day I ordered. Don't let the dealers tell you things that are not true. Do a little research and you may be surprised what can happen. Most on this forum knew more about the Telluride than the dealer when we all ordered, at least back in early part of the year. The sales people got caught with their pants down on the knowledge of the Telluride and now some buyers reward them by paying crazy markups but in the end if the buyer is happy with the deal that is all that matters. Everyone enjoy the new Tellurides and stay safe and for the ones waiting on one, keep waiting for the car is worth every minute you wait.

What are people’s experiences as far as time goes once their tellurides go into production. I called my dealer today and they started building mine a week and a half ago. Trying to see how much longer I have to wait. Thanks

We ordered our Dark Moss AWD SX-P on 25 Jul and received notification from the dealer today of the following information: 1) Production completed: 03 Sept; 2) Final Inspection: 06 Sept; 3) Estimated Shipment Out: 12 Sept; 4) Estimated Dealer arrival (in Albuquerque): 26 Sept.
So, a total of 9 weeks from order date to delivery, IF the estimated dates are correct. I've attached a portion of the data output the dealership sent me; they get that data from their "KIA WEBDCS - Detail Delivery Status" IT system.

When was yours ordered? The dealers abused the sold orders and since KIA has required proof / deposit check copy showing name and information of buyer. It wasn't a problem in the beginning but after dealers couldn't keep them on the lot they just started randomly ordering. That's when KIA decided to just do allocations based on the dealers sales of other models. More KIA's sold more Tellurides for that dealer.

Yes, definitely correct. But, it is up to the dealer whether to actually cash the check. They do, however, need some proof that an actual customer has ordered the car per the reasons you cite. My dealer never actually cashed the check - in fact, the dealer just needed the image to show corporate.

Like Wap52 said no deposit is required. Every dealer is assigned an allocation or basically unit reservation amount which is the number of cars a dealer can order, this is the pool used to order their new car inventory but also the pool used when you "special order" your car. Deposits are just for the dealer to see how serious a buyer is, because even if you back out that car just becomes inventory for them so not much of a loss. It gets slightly more complicated when things become customized when dealing with low volume/high end manufacturers like Ferrari or Bentley which tend to build cars to order.
This has me actually thinking about the current situation especially for those waiting on their SX. Dealers tend not to put into inventory very base models, they also tend to order a handful of top trim/fully loaded models mostly for the show room floor. The dealers get their allocation months in advance, pretty much when order guides leak is going to be when the order books are opened, seeing the LX is anything but a base model and the incredible value the S is I can only imagine managers were filling their allocations with those with a couple of spots for SX and the EX getting the least. It seems more and more people are starting to see their SX order coming to completion soon which makes me think the factory is finally getting through that initial wave of allocations and more customer ordered cars are going to be coming off assembly in the coming weeks.
For reference I ordered an EX AWD tow pkg, told my order was submitted week of Aug 19th along with the dealer's inventory allocation for the month, even though I wanted a few they talked me out of adding any accessories with a pretty logical answer, each accessory is just another item that can hold up production and shipping, so why not just get the accessories through the parts dept as the car comes in.They're pretty sure with this strategy we can get the car in less than 2 months, fingers crossed.

So exciting thanks for sharing. It looks like the wait might soon be over then.

My check was not cashed either just put on file as well.

Myself as well as several others on multiple forums have placed special orders without a deposit, most of which have been accepted. My own included. Also I specifically asked my dealer before placing my order if they were requiring a deposit and his response was no, that would be illegal. So I agree. Something doesn't sound quite right.

That's got to be a record. LOL Awesome!!!

I am very glad that I found this forum. It's comforting. We placed our order with our dealer for S with AWD and tow package on 7/13/19. Before we actually placed the order, the salesman told me that it take "60 days max" when the order is placed. So I was thinking it wouldn't take that long & when I called back to check about 5 weeks later, he told me that it would take "at least 60-90 days" and that mine was still showing being 3 down on the waiting list from being built. I checked in with them today as this would be the week of day 60 but they just had the receptionist tell me that it's still in process to be built. I can't wait for it to get here!

These forums go a long way in keeping us sane while playing the waiting game. Ordered my SXP on 7/27 so I can relate. Can hardly stand it :)

Did you happen to order from Pitre Kia in Albuquerque? We ordered a Dark Moss SX-P with Dune interior AWD with Towing Package on July 25th as well from Pitre Kia in Las Cruces. I haven’t heard anything from them on ours yet, and certainly haven’t been given this level of detail. I am getting ready to call them to see if they can give me this level of detail on ours.

Any non-prestige SX AWD buyers from late June? Still no word from my dealer. Has anyone confirmed that "orders" are just dealers plucking inventory off the line? White with Butterscotch SX AWD must be uncommon...
I ordered a Snow White Pearl SX non-prestige on June 8th. I really wish there was an option to have the Napa leather without AWD. I don’t need that in south Louisiana, and I wasn’t willing to pay $4000 for them. Anyways, I’ve called the dealership 4 times since then. Still no word. I haven’t gotten an estimated delivery date or VIN number or any information really 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am in Canada. Ordered May 30 a Moss Green SX Ltd. (Prestige in US). Quoted Sept 30 as latest delivery date. Now the dealer says they have no idea when it will arrive in Canada as Kia Canada has not given them any updates. The wait has been frustrating just over 3 months now with no information. I have seen only 3 on the road in my area and they are EX model. To even find more than 1 Telluride on a dealership is impossible up here. Obviously US is getting priority over Canada which is always the case.

I placed my order for a White S trim Telluride on July 6, 2019. I was told the turnaround was 90-120 days but the dealership I ordered through had been seeing a 70 day turnaround. The 70 day turnaround is in 4 days and would be a pretty sweet birthday present to myself. However, I had so much trouble getting ANY information whatsoever from dealership in the last 66 days; all I would get in response is "we will update you". Sorry but that is not good enough for me. Finally after 30 days of no news and reaching out to dealership owner, I was notified that order was placed and waiting on production. Another 30 days later and production still hasn't started. I have no VIN or order number to reference. No responses to voicemails or emails from dealership. Guess I'm going to dealership today.
