• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

Are you sure its cell based? Because as far as I know it is satellite based, since its using the module from the SiriusXM's signal. It it were cell based it would probably have wifi availability inside the car. There would also be some sort of partnership with one of the major cell carriers in the us, like how GM uses AT&T for their wifi plans. This of course after years of using Verizon for their OnStar setup. Another way to tell is that the car would have a SIM card somewhere that connects it to cell.

I researched a bit more, and THERE IS a modem in the car that uses LTE data... so far I found nothing on what the remote start signal uses and what uses the LTE. That said I wonder if a future update would add wifi...

I just pick up the Telluride and downloaded the app and the remote starter is there. Thank you for your answer. The dealership still says it does not come with one.
The dealer is correct in a way. The Telluride doesn't come with a traditional remote start; meaning, installed within your key (free). You can start your engine remotely with the app for an fee; beginning from approximately $11 per/month to $26 dollars a month (according to dealer). 1st year subscription is free.

The remote start with the key fob was the main option that I wanted on my new EX Telluride. I was told when I ordered the car that it would have the key fob start. Well, guess what...I picked up the car on Saturday and no remote start fob. They said it wasn't an option yet and that I could install an after market remote start. Because the car wasn't what I ordered, I made them eat the cost of the $600 worth of accessories that I added on.

KIA needs to make the remote start fob a "standard equipment" option. Paying $250 per year for an APP is totally ridiculous.

I love my new Telluride!!!!!

Yes, there are some aftermarket remote start products - add one of those. Someone posted on the forum that they added one and it works well.

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.

Is it remote start though the original key fob or are you purchasing the remote start kit that comes with another fob for remote start? I was quoted $800 to install the Kia remote start system. In my mind, I'm not going to pay $800 when I can get a Compustar system for 1/2 the price.

It’s still mind blowing to me that they don’t even know the product they’re selling. You have a dozen cars to learn abound and make you salary/commission and still know nothing about your cars.
When I picked mine up, the dealer had never seen one before. My salesperson had only driven mine to the gas station. He was trying to tell me about cool features but I had watched hours of YouTube and he couldn’t tell me anything I didn’t know already.

It's just not Kia, I've been to Ford dealerships and experienced the same thing.I purchased an f250 earlier this year and the salesman couldn't tell me the difference between the towing capacity of a diesel or gas.

Exactly and fully agree! I did recently talk to the dealer and they said there is a separate smaller remote start fob they are starting to put with the tellurides now.

Can this remote start fob be programmed for our Tellurides? I hope so, because I do not have a major cellular provider in my area and the remote start from the APP will NOT work!!!! I have filed a compliant and they are working on a solution. Nice to know that this may be an option.

I have read on the Kia web site thst the the Telluride comes with remote start as standard as long as you have the UVO app and subscription. When I asked the Kia dealer they said it does not have remote start. Does anyone know what the answer is?
Here’s a copy of the UVO app display to start Telly. Picked our BLK/Grey EX AWD /Tow pack in Aug. We love the Telly, learning, learning, learning all the “wizgizzers” as my wife says.

How much did it cost for you to add remote start to fob ? Dealer here says it's 795 dollars

In this day and age why would Kia neglect to put remote start on their cars without having to use an app or have it as a dealer installed option

Exactly, the car already comes with almost everything you'd want but the one thing that other cars have been doing years with remote start being on the key fob they left out...

Look up iDatastart HCX and Kia Telluride on YouTube. There is a video where the guy installed one and uses the Telluride FOB to start it.

I knew going in I would need to purchase a remote start for my wife's new sx. I live in Shreveport LA and there is a shop here that installs the Evo One by Fortin that allows you to use the original key fob to start the car. When I got mine back it uses a lock-unlock-lock pattern on the key fob to start the car but I also know that it can use a Lock-Lock-Lock pattern on the key fob to do it also. I do not know why the L-U-L pattern was used on mine and am going ask the installer the difference. On Fortin's site it says the Telluride is compatible with the 3x lock pattern and I would find that better with the auto folding mirrors so they would not try to open and close with the pushing of the lock and unlock buttons to start the car. Everything including installation was $450. Just glad I budgeted for it. Makes my wife much happier.

Yes, the mirrors waving at you could be an annoyance, but on the other hand it is confirmation that you pressed the right sequence of buttons.
