• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

Just to be clear, you only have to press lock once to get the process started. I've seen this misinformation a lot. It's unnecessary. But if it makes you feel better hitting it twice, you do you.

Here's more info here, from page 4-10 of your owner's manual.

Remote start with fob
Thanks, I followed my dealer instructions and that’s how it worked but I’ll also try it the way you suggested and see.

Uvo app isn’t the greatest. Mine makes me lock the doors from the app, even if I locked them when I get out of the car. So it’s really two steps to start it. You’d think it would know if they are locked or not?
And there is quite a lag wait time before you can start it. Waiting for the lock update

I’ve always been locking the car using the exterior handle button or the remote fob. I have never had to lock a second time using Kia Access app before using the app to remote start. Works as it is supposed to for me.

Response time seems to have improved too since a year ago when I first bought the car. Takes 10-30 seconds from sending command for the car to actually start. A huge improvement from the 60-90 seconds in the past. Also logging into the app is much faster as well.

Only thing that hasn’t improved is their overpriced UVO service plans.

Those of us with a 2020 don’t have a keyfob for remote start. Only the app. Which is expensive. It’s seriously annoying as we were told when we bought ours we could get a keyfob. I haven’t had remote start since my free year was up in May.

Yup, I also have a 2020 SXP. No starter on the remote fob for me. My UVO subscription will be exporting soon as well.

If you are considering aftermarket options for remote starters, Accessorides has been working well for several 2020 owners on this forum. One benefit is that you can remote start using your existing 2020 remote fob. Easy enough to install yourself. Or you can have a shop do it for you if you prefer.

I’m on the fence regarding renewing my Uvo subscription. Remote start is nice and I’d use it more if it was on the keyfob. Honestly what I’m going to miss most from Uvo is when it tells me that I left the car unlocked. My wife does that almost every time she drives the car cuz her Mazda has the walk away lock and mine doesn’t, so she’s gotten used to it. Both of these have been solved by aftermarket but I’m not sure if I want to go that route either. 🤔

I installed the aftermarket remote start and never looked back. Installed it myself in under 2 hours.

What UVO setting is it that does this?

I was so mad when the dealer told me that the remote start used an app and even worse, I had to pay for a subscription after it ran out! Has anyone heard about a remote start option from Kia for the 2020’s rather than UVO?
