If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’ve purchased a lot of new cars in my lifetime, and it’s typically something I never look forward to. I’ve visited three Kia dealers in my area, inquiring about the Telluride, and they don’t know their product. It’s pathetic. First of all, you’ve got to get past the new, inexperienced salesman that are standing around the entrance and search the showroom for fleet sales, or internet sales. At one dealership I managed to find an Internet Sales Manager, and he stated that he’s a “straight shooter.”
So I explained exactly what I was looking for and my “out the door” price. He says he can do it. Never heard back. Called him, no response. Mr. “Straight Shooter” was, in my opinion, just another typical car salesman that’s confirming why the process of buying a new car is dreadful. Maybe as the dust settles, and Telluride inventories increase, they may be receptive to all offers. Till then, I stay away from all car salesman and live happily with my existing ride...a 2018 BMW M40i.

Couldn’t agree more. I actually prefer to do most negotiations over email and been getting lots of BS from most of them. Most don’t even want to spend the time if you’re not paying MSRP. I did go in to check out a vehicle and got a sales person who really was clueless and didn’t even know how to look up inventory other than going to Kia.com!! I too will have to wait for the irrational exuberation to end and get myself a good deal. If I can pay at or below invoice for a BMW I should be able to do that with a Kia as well considering they are still getting their 3% holdback.

Yes. Work the deal, right through the financing process, via email. Life is so much easier this way. Plus, it's a lot less time for the sales and finance people at the dealership. They make less money, but spend less time on you. So it's a win/win as you get a new vehicle and they move one off their lot...

Well said, and Amen Tim-in-CA. My ‘18 BMW M40i was also a first year release, with lots of hype on YouTube, and I managed to negotiate 11% off MSRP. Our day will come, but it’s going to take probably 6 to 12 months. In the meantime, we learn from our fellow members and remain patient.

Thanks. I hope it’s not 6-12 months before the helium deflates from the dealers’ heads!! I’m hoping once the Palisade comes out it will cannibalize some customers from the Telluride and once production ramps up supply will ease. Other parts of the country seem to already be able to negotiate to at least +$500 over invoice. Hopefully that will happen soon here in So Cal... I have 3 other vehicles to drive so I can wait (I know ... first world problems)!

Getting that around here (Arizona ) too. Its laughable but so predictable. There is one dealer with 65 Sorento's in stock. Think they are selling those at MSRP? It won't be 6 months. My prediction is June or July. To be fair though, the $1000 competitive bonus and $1500 finance bonus will help if you can get $1000 or so off MSRP now on something in stock. That's probably not out of the question.

I was able to negotiate a deal over text messages with a particular dealer today. I drove 45 minutes to the dealer to finalize and was told the $2,500 Kia incentive would only apply if I took delivery of the vehicle before the incentives expire. They knew I was looking at a color combination that was not in stock yet and could take another 6-8 weeks.

The sales person told me that Kia will likely keep the incentives so I shouldn’t worry about it. I mean, if there is nothing to worry about they should be confident to guarantee me the $2,500 and bake it into the deal.

For those of you ordering specific colors not available yet, have you been able to get the dealer to honor the $2,500 regardless of when the vehicle comes in?

Humm, old thread yet I have not seen the deflation, perhaps 2021 it will happen? I am thinking if the Telluride goes hybrid then that deflation may not happen very soon.
