If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Dealer Markup

What da fork is a steel tariff? Did Donny boy do this too? 🤣

I sincerely doubt that this is true. It's very confusing as to what tariffs have actually been implemened since the WH take-over. Certainly there is a significant amount of steel still produced in the US. Plus a US based manufacturing plant is more likely to use US made steel rather than imports. It appears that no one can honestly answer the question at this point in time regarding tariffs on imported steel. There have been so many changes, delays, challenges and exemptions because the current Administration has no idea apparently what a tariff or trade agreement is. If there had been a major increase in the cost of steel there would be more information out there. AND a manufacturer would raise the price of a vehicle NOT THE DEALER!

Smoke and Mirrors. Ask BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Audi if they have a markup due to steel prices? I haven't seen a markup on a pair of scissors ✂️, let alone a new KIA.

Looking around, I just found the dealership up the road from me got a snow white pearl w/black interior SX Prestige w/towing package in (exactly what I want). They want $50,045. From my mild looking around, because I won't be in the market until later this year, that is the most expensive SX I've seen so far in my area.
Can you send me the name of the dealer? All the ones in my area are adding $4,000 to the price. Although I am looking for white Prestige package with grey interior.

All the dealers in the SF Bay Area and LA Area are charging anywhere between $2k - $6k mark up above the MSRP. I called a dealer in Houston, TX and they are not doing that. CA is the only state that it is charging extra for this car. I guess is the law of supply and demand.

I live in New York City. Only one KIA dealer. Was charging 5-10K above MSRP for the SX with premium. I told them more power to you if you can get it and left.
The Hyundai dealer close by also charging a markup for the Palisade. But lots of Hyundai dealers - go out to Queens and you can get MSRP for a Palisade.

I tried a few in Queens and they were charging 3-5k over msrp for telluride and palisade in July. I decided I was fine with waiting and ordered from Muncie instead.

FREE HK, just over the Hudson to the west and within 20 miles, there are litterally half a dozen KIA dealers.

When I attempted to get a price quote over the phone or email, they insisted that I have to come in to find out. I didn't think it was worth the time or money ($12.50 toll) only to find out they are charging above MSRP.

LEGIT dealer should be able to send you something in writing or by phone. I ran up against that in my early poking around. You come in and they tell you that you have to order one. THEY STILL won't give you a price unless the vehicle is on the lot and for sale. They have even asked for a deposit to hold one (on the lot) and they still wouldn't give you a price!

And this is why car dealers are considered evil and nobody wants to deal with us. We have created this perception. Makes our job tough even if we are the good guys.

Sacramento, CA - Kia of Elk Grove, mark up on Telluride S AWD was almost 5k. Went to Costco auto site, plugged in info this past Monday Nov 4, 2019, I have not heard back from anyone.
Our sales guy was nice. He told us their mark-up was lower, some Kia dealers are marking up the MSRP by 8k. We told him never mind. We won't be paying over MSRP for a Kia. As long as there a people who will pay the mark up, that will keep prices inflated. We will wait.

We are a Costco Dealer and sell below MSRP. If you want to order... Let's roll!

Kia of Elk Grove, CA - Me and mine would have never have stepped foot in to a Kia dealership if it wasn't for the Telluride. Actually when we first arrived they asked if we were going to buy one. They didn't want to let us test drive it because they don't want to drive up the miles on the new vehicle! LOL Whelp I suppose they are protecting the merchandise.

This is why we have a demo on hand. Everything was sold coming in. We needed something people could drive and experience.

So the $1000+ for destination charge would cover delivery from Muncie to Sacramento CA?
