Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

I have to say this seems to apply to both Kia and Hyundai more than any other dealers, at least here in MA. I have literally told the people at Dan O'Brien Kia to go F themselves when they called me. I have seen Pride, Prime, Boch and Quirk all have HUGE markups and being very aggressive about the pricing. When the Hyundai Elantra GT first came out many years ago, when they first made it a Saab-esque hatch back that was pretty cool, they were jacking those up $2500-4000 and calling it a "market adjustment" right on the window stickers at Quirk. Also had really bad experiences with RT 24 Hyundai on the same level when looking at the 2nd generation Tiburon's many years back.

I think this is why i am so pleased with my experiences at Lev in Framingham. They are a much smaller dealer, but just not a bunch of assholes. I have also had good dealings with Wagner Kia in Shrewsbury, but have never gone all the way through a purchase with them.

Anyone in New England have experience with Imperial in Mendon/Millis? I have heard they are great, but havent been there. What about Commonwealth up in Lawrence? They certainly advertise enough, but that always makes me a bit skeptical.

(SX AWD, Dark Moss, Dark Espresso leather). I picked it up on Saturday and couldn't be happier. Lev Kia even paid off my last two lease payments!

Ha, I sat in your car and checked out the stereo last week!! Ken and Bert wouldnt let me even start the engine, let alone drive it, since it was already sold to you.....
Nice color combination. I liked the Butterscotch and Dune better only cause I wasnt sold on the Brown Dashboard, but it looks good in the Moss color that way so congrats!!

omigosh! I sat in your car as well. We had just taken the Palisade for a test drive in Arlington - found it to have a lot of road noise, but it was the lower model (the one we were scheduled to test drive had been sold an hour before we got there). We stopped at Lev and checked your car out, but found out it was sold. It didn't "click" that the car we sat in was your car until this post. We liked the dark moss, but wanted to see a white with grey interior and do a test drive of the SX AWD, which is how we ended up at Pride.

When I was looking for a car for my son, Imperial seemed very responsive, but I noticed later on when looking at new cars that their prices seemed to be a thousand or more higher than other places. It is definitely a fun place to visit - we go there to eat at Miss Mendon Diner and have attended a few events there. I don't know if Quirk has improved, but years ago there were lots of complaints at the Attorney General's Office and Better Business Bureau which has made me leery of them. Might be worthwhile checking the AG's and BBB to see what others have to say about any dealer you are thinking of.

Looks like Quirk hasn't changed much. Two stars on BBB sites with lots of complaints including bait and switch. Quirk Cars, Inc. | Better Business Bureau® Profile , Quirk Chevrolet • 29 Customer Reviews and Complaints • ConsumerAffairs , corporate donations to political candidates, http://files.ocpf.us/pdf/actions/quirkDA2015.pdf , lots of other complaints with other offices of the BBB, etc.

Stay away from Jack Daniels Kia in New Jersey. They list all SXPs for MSRP on all sites and when you call they will agree to sticker and refuse a down payment via phone and when you show up they will take you in the back hidden showroom where they have 2 of every color SXP with a 10k markup. Then they will call and email you non stop everyday till you threaten them with a bad review if they don’t leave you alone.

My wife and I just stopped into Kia of Cherry Hill, NJ over the weekend to test drive a Telluride. I've been doing a ton of research here on this forum and on the web and wanted to see it and make sure it drove as nice as I've read about. The car was great, but the experience was not. I told them right away that I'm interested in a SX which they didn't have and that we wanted to see the car in person and test drive. They didn't seem too thrilled about that and the atmosphere was pretty uncomfortable. After the test I said I was really happy with the car and asked if they do orders for SX's. They said no. "We only sell the cars on the lot." They didn't ask if I'd be interested in finding out when one arrived or anything. Guess you just have to show up and see what they have? I've read on this forum that some dealers will take orders and some won't. Some require big deposits some don't. Just sucks because it's the closest Kia dealership, but I did not and do not want to deal with them in the future. Also, I don't want to play the game of constantly searching and trying to find the Telluride we want to only get there and experience things like a 10k markup as mentioned in other posts. I'm most likely just going to place an order with Muncie and get the Telluride we want.

We can order whatever you want and would be happy to do so below MSRP with the Costco Auto Program.

Jason, how much below MSRP does the Costco discount give? That is in addition to the other incentives, correct? Do you currently have an additional veterans discount on top of the Kia veterans discount, for Veterans Day?

Costco discount is based by model and options. All discounts are different. We are not offering anything additional on top of a Costco deal other than the Factory Veteran discount from KIA of $400.

On my pre-holiday trip this week from SoCal to MT, I will be passing the dealer, who, after getting my $500 non refundable deposit, proceeded to inform me that there were mandatory dealer addons above the MSRP that I was quoted. Cancelled the order and ordered with Muncie. Will be so far ahead the with discount that I'm eating the $500 on principle. Needless to say, in honor of Veterans day, they will be getting a one finger salute as I pass by........

Thank you - so refreshing to get straight answers!

Just went to Family Kia in Saint Augustine, Florida to look at a SX with prestige package, and my wife loved it (as did I) they even had the dune brown interior we were looking for and not black. The sales associate was very nice and pleasant, then she comes back from the managers office with a $56,000 sticker price. GTFO!

I said "we appreciate your time but I'm not paying an inflated price or a "market adjustment" there are plenty of other dealers around the country that will sell us a car" The manager, Jeff, walked over and tried to give me some bullshit story about every dealer is doing it and we won't find a dealer that isn't charging a markup, the poor guy couldn't keep a straight face long enough to believe his own crap.

Unfortunately this asshat just took a paycheck out of this poor woman's pocket.

Anyhow if anyone has a recommendation for a good dealer to work with, I'm all ears before I start the hunt for a better experience.

ps. apologize if you guys don't allow the language around here

I leased my last car from them. It was not a great experience! I only went with them because they had the color combo we wanted and it was heavily discounted. Even though I got a deal money wise, they came off sleazy as hell.

Called Wagner Kia of Shrewsbury today here in Massachusetts. On their website they have an EB/Dune SXP w/Tow with the usual "Call us for Pricing" stuff and no link to the window sticker. I asked the person to confirm they have it and they do. It is exactly what I have on order through another dealer, but am expecting a very long wait for. The woman on the phone was very nice, but when I asked her the asking price she told me "We know some dealers are asking as much as $10k over sticker and we are not doing that!" I pressed her a little harder and she put me on hold. She came back having "chatted with the GSM" and told me the asking price was $53,995, but that it included the rebate and a lifetime warranty (which they always throw in as a dealer). She also told me no offer would be ignored so to come in and see what we can figure out.
I am going to go test drive it, but this is already starting badly so figured I would post it here.
