They video on YouTube is for the ambient lighting only not the footwell, that telluride in the video is not equipped With footwell lighting . We are trying to dim the footwell and cup holder lighting

You have the additional lighting package. I don’t have my vehicle yet with that package. However, my understanding is that you cannot change the brightness for it. You can only turn it on or off and change the color.

I have checked the Youtube videos...( all good ) but I do not see any reference to the ability to DIM the footwell lights ( assuming that package is on your vehicle ).

I guess we are talking about different things. My footwell lights are part of the mood lighting. I have a sx with prestige package and with the $450 ambient light package(not that I chose it but it was on the vehicle). Maybe the next step is to see if your dealership has a super technical expert. I was lucky that friendly KIA in new port Richey in Florida had such a person who was at the engineer level. I aswell have a sx prestige with the 450 lighting package from factory and the footwell does not dim, can u post pictures or a video so we can all see them dim Because I would like to know how this is possible. Thanks

Wait so I can dim and change the blue in font cabin and my cup holders? I have an SXP with the lighting package. It’s annoying that I have to keep my color blue to match the car around. I would love to be able to make at least the cabin and cup holders white instead of blue.

Yes u can change the color, in front of the cupholders there’s a small storage space there’s a button in there, on the left side wall press it. u can change the color. hold it and u can shut it off but u have to have the footwell lighting package

I just changed the color, thank you! I’m so confused why they would put that button on the wall of the compartment that the driver cannot see. Lol.

The SX does come standard with mood lighting. It consists of small strips on the dash and all of the doors. (See below). It is controlled through the infotainment screen. 64 colors are available and it is dimmable to your liking.


There is also available an accessory “Interior lighting” option for $450 that is completely separate and consists of lights in the front footwell and the cupholders. (See below). It can be cycled through 16 different colors and is controlled by a button placed in the small cubby just in front of the cupholders. If equipped, your vehicle comes with a handy small document to remind you how to operate it. It is not dimmable (it’s either on or off).

Thank you ...very helpful! I like the mood lighting, which is dimmable..... but am glad I did not bother with the footwell lighting as it is not dimmable and would be too bright for my likiing.

It's hard to believe that the optional Lighting Kit isn't:
A) dimmable
B) connected to the rest of the interior lighting on the SX

For $450. Sheeesh.

(it's on the car that I just found via searching/calling and put a deposit on)

It’s designed to be completely separate since you can get it on any Telluride model, not just the SX. They’re not going to add a setting in the LX and S infotainment, for example, for a an accessory that someone may or may not add.

Dimming would be nice, but they’re already probably pushing the number of functions that one button can control.

Is anyone else having issues with the interior ambient lighting kit? I press the switch and nothing happens. The lights are on, but it won’t cycle through colors and if you hold the switch down it won’t turn off either.

I didn’t realize the SX came with mood lighting and that the lighting package was additional for the foot wells/cupholders until running across this thread. I’m currently waiting on delivery of an SXP with the kit.

I’m wondering if it might be possible to just add a resistor in line to dim those lights.
