• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... So here here is the skinny, I drive the Telluride like it makes me feel, so I cruise everywhere I go without a care in the world. Every now and then I have to get on it to merge correctly, because unless you live in Oklahoma, you wouldnt get it, they are the most unpolite people I have to meet yet on the road, they got the safety rating to prove it to, went from 6th worst on the USA road drivers to 5th last year, lol, anyways, has anyone experience a smell of exhaust, and Im not talking about a little but a lot, after you step on it and get the vehicle going? It almost feels like is leaking into the back of the cabin, cause with the AC vents on my face and on recirculating I did not smell it coming into the cabin. No I was not following someone elses exhaust and getting in that way, just me by myself. Thanks Manny.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Yes, I bought my car 10 days ago, and too much smoke is coming out from the exhaust when still or even driving slow. In addition, when I turn on heating, at high temperatures something smells like its burning, not sure what it is. Did you ever find the reason and the fix for it?

Well, the temp is cold, prolly water vapor and not smoke.

Even for Atlanta weather? I mean it is cold but not super cold compared to Colorado. What is good way to tell if its water vapor and not smoke?

Yep, absolutely; new vehicle. It smells like oil burning. But, not smells like an old oil-burning vehicle with, say, 200,000 miles on it; rather, smells like oil burning in a modern vehicle that has a broad range of emissions controls. If this continues well into break-in period, I'll be very unhappy.

So I did nothing special other than drive it and change the oil, for the last 10k miles I have nkt experience the smell when I accelerated the car so far. The only different thing is that I do my own oil changes and use a different brand other than oem still synthetic . Hope this helps.

Water vapor will dissipate after a short time, smoke will not, it may break up, but it doesn't just evaporate like vapor.

Same here I brought my telluride in july and I still think is to much smoke or vapor smoke either is a litle too much in my opinion

Take a video, if the exhaust disappears it is just water vapor. If it looks like your hot boxing a car than it is burning oil.

Hi mine too is like vapor But is a lot I asked the dealer and said is normal what did you do?

I bought mine 6 months ago and blows lots of like vapor smoke but a lot I asked the dealer and they said was normal but it looks like an old car and is not hopefully we can find answers

I recently towed with the telluride and like the op, I get a lot of exhaust smell on the cabin. Anyone have any idea how to fix this. The dealer is clueless.

It may sound stupid, but what about taking a carbon monoxide detector with you in the car and replicate the situation? If exhaust is coming in at a significant rate, it may trigger it. You’d then have something tangible to demonstrate the problem.

Yea, I will have to probably do this when I get a chance. I accually took the saleman, and he smelled it right away too. Taking it in on Tuesday for service to check it out.

I got a Telluride and if I let it sit and run for a while the exhaust smells awful like really strong think I'm going to call Kia and have them check it out
