• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... anyone get their insurance cost or price for the Telluride? I was all decided on the telluride and I asked for a quote for a telluride AWD S and it was $300-350 more than similar suvs like the Honda Passport, Subaru Ascent, and Mazda CX-9. This is almost a deal breaker. Paying $300 more a year for insurance on a car is a hard pill to swallow. I asked our insurance agent why it was so much more and she told me on average Kia and Hyundai are anywhere from 250-350 more than other brands.

The general statement is not true. However, on the telluride, you have a Couple variables. First, zero history, so the insurance companies are going to err high. Second, lots of expensive tech in the body. Third, parts will be scarce for a while.

Here is El paso, my 2018 Stinger GT2 costs the same annually as our 2018 Lexus es350.

Yeah I even asked her to price a Telluride S AWD vs a EX AWD and it was only a small difference. Now take into account my wife and I have very high coverage amounts but I honestly wasn't expecting a difference like this between competitors. For reference we have a 2016 Subaru Legacy and 2013 Nissan Rogue on our policy. Policy cost is $1239 currently. To replace the rogue with a subaru ascent it went up to 1373. A Pilot was $1423, VW atlas, 1,393, and the Telluride was $1553.

While that would make sense the quote they gave us for the Sorrento was $180 more than competitors.
Mine went up $73 to go from 14’ Grand Cherokee to the EX? Thought that was more reasonable.
hmm interesting. Maybe my insurance company doesn't have enough info on the telluride yet.

So I received a quote from Geico who I was insured with of almost double my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I moved to Progressive and the quote for the SX was less than my Jeep so it seems like its just dependent on the insurance company itself. Needless to say I moved everything over to Progressive. I would just shop around as I am sure you can get good pricing on the Telluride.

My insurance through Allstate actually went down over 200$ a year. We got rid of the Soul EV for the Tulluride. I have an Optima and also a Honda ridgeline. I was pleasantly surprised!

When shopping for insurance make sure to check the glass replacement policies. My Genesis windshield replacement from Hyundia cost $2900 through Safelight. All Tellurides will need camera calibration and the SX Prestige will need a windshield compatible with the heads up display. My Genesis has both features, hence the OEM windshield.

Exactly. My wife had her windshield replaced and used her comprehensive deductable of $250 other wise she would have paid $1,400 for glass and camera calibration

I just got back a quote from GEICO (my current insurance company). They want $550 more for the Telluride. Progressive quoted a lot less. Got some more insurance shopping to do while my car is being built.

I have 0 deductible on glass. Had safelite install OEM on the EV. It had all the options , and they did it with no problem.

I would definitely shop around. My husband is 41, I'm 37 with clean driving histories. Even the Allstate agent was confused on the price reduction but said because of all the safety features on the Tulluride.

I haven't purchased yet, but with Ameriprise through Costco to replace my 2010 LR4 with an SX AWD my cost actually dropped by about $7/6mo to $223/6mo which includes Gap coverage 500 coll / 100 comp… now, I have 3 vehicles (one driver) and the LR4 and subsequently the SX is classified as a pleasure vehicle as it will not be my daily driver. I was surprised that the insurance was actually lower than a 9 yr old vehicle!

I have State Farm and my insurance (Very Good Coverage, $500 deducible) Is going up $85 a year -So about $635 a year ~ $53 a month for my AWD EX. I thought that was reasonable, I had a 2013 Ford Fusion (28k MSRP)

I think there are a lot of factors involved and cities where you get it. My reference is not useful here as currently I have a Subaru WRX and with Telluride my price drops by $60 a month. (also considering that Telluride has a lot more safety features than my 2015 WRX.

I had this same experience with Geico and I don't understand why but regardless I ended up going with Progressive so hopefully Geico will come to their senses soon when everyone purchasing one of these start dropping Geico policies. My total policy quote for my Telluride through Geico was like $900 vs Progressive where I am paying $400 roughly every 6 months.

I think the best comparison is to have your insurance drop your current vehicle and add the Telluride to see how rates are affected with the same coverage. for me it was pretty much the same with Ameriprise.

Insurance costs are based on national databases of repair costs for specific vehicles. for instance, many years ago many Hyundai's came with nice panasonic stereos that were too easy to steal. once word got around, theft rates for hyundais went up. Some cars, like the mid-80's ford escort base edition, got higher rates simply because people were buying them for their kids, who in turn had more accidents. I can imagine, for instance, that the Telluride might cost a little less to insure than the Palisade, because the palisade is made in Korea and so parts might have to come from there.

I went to pay my current car insurance today with State Farm, and while I was there, I asked for quotes on a 19 Rav4 Limited, a 19 Passport Touring, and the EX Telluride. The Rav4 was the cheapest, obviously. The Honda was actually more expensive, at $626. They want $512 for the Telluride. 6 month premium.

My insurance actually went down $112 dollars per year over my 16 Genesis. Not a lot but it buys a decent dinner out I guess.

I’m an analyst now but used to be a Financial Advisor. I always recommended using an independent insurance agent to shop for rates as strong ones will have access to many companies, some you may have never heard of, but are still high quality companies.
