However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Order to delivery time

So what's confusing to me is how they can tell me an ETA when there is no VIN. I don't believe they would lie to me. Has this happened with anybody else?

Any manufacturer can estimate their production pipeline. You don’t need a VIN/serial number to do this.

We can build XXX units/day and you are number XXX in line. Simple math.

I ordered a Black Copper SX with black interior from Power Kia in Salem, Oregon on November 13th. Stephen can you tell me if they are considered a larger dealer?

I was looking at the spreadsheet and found a car similar to what I have booked headed to my dealer (AWD vs FWD). So I called them. They mentioned that they don't have info for the other car but the one I booked has an ETA of 2/25. I ordered one on 11/30. No VIN yet. I asked if it's been allocated and they said yes. Seems unreal that I would get an update so soon. Any reason I should be wary?
When a car is in FA status (Factory allocated) you get your first ETA. The ETA is given before the Telluride is build and given a Vin. So yes there is nothing wrong with what they are saying. Next step is VA(Vehicle allocation to build) then vin number is made followed by TN(Transit tending) followed by being shipped to your dealer (IT) in transit. Sounds like the long part of your wait is over and they can track from this point on till it arrives

An
An ETA is exactly what it is. Estimated. That's what we are told on the side from KIA. At this point they probably don't even know. VIN and arrival date are towards very end of process.
The ETA are pretty darn accurate as long as no issue takes place at being built they are coming in like clockwork. Yes they can be a few days off but ETA is a great tracking system so I would disagree that the dealer doesn’t know. Process is the same on all orders FA-VA-TN-IT-DS. Arrival dates aren’t at the end they are given as soon as order is factory allocated (FA)

yes. I have an ETA of 3/6.Clearly no VIN yet. The earliest I’d expect to see that would be sometime in Feb.

Great info!

I’ve gotten three ETAs already. It’s gotten pushed back a total of 3 weeks. Seems each week it gets pushed back even though I have the VIN already. Thinking it’s cuz of the holidays but man it tests my patience... lol. So close yet so far...

It was a great ride home to Florida. I learned a lot about the safety features and used the ECO Drive Mode the whole way home and got over 26 MPG average for the 1000 mile trip. At one point, I even hit 30 MPG. So smooth. Thank you again to Jason and Lucas from Kia of Muncie.
You drove to Orlando from Indianapolis? That must have been a nice drive! How long did it take and what route did you take?

Wondering if people can start posting when they ordered and when they received their Kia (or at least the vin).

I ordered an sx prestige with tow on March 13. Nothing yet.

Many of the threads here have gotten hare to follow woth with the side conversations, it would be helpful to just keep this to dates for people’s reference.
I ordered mine in August I'm in the Chicago area

I feel your pain. My original ETA was 12/28 , now is 1/13. Vehicle was out of production on 12/12. Knowing it was built and just sitting on lot at factory is killing me.

If I could just pick mine up at the factory, that would be the best.

Grab a hotel or two and do a mini vacation on the way home.

Is that what it means once you get the VIN? I’ve had mine since mid December also.

I believe VIN is created once production starts, only takes a few days to complete build. My dealer was able to give me all the dates.
Yea it makes me wonder what step in the whole process of being built is at and what the delay is. Glad to know I’m not alone since our dates are similar. Maybe it is cuz of the holidays.

Holidays and time it takes to move to the shipping yard. They do a final inspection and then line up transport and making sure it is a full truck being transported out to the area the dealership is at

MB has a factory pickup option in Germany. Pick up your car, drive around Europe for a few weeks then drive it to the port for export to the US. The folks in West Point could increase the local economy (hotels, restaurants, etc) by offering factory pick-up. Heck - they might as well throw in a factory tour to watch Telly's being made and a VIP introduction to your new vehicle now that they are trying to increase the Brand value...

I almost did this with the Audi I ordered years back.

My wife and I actually discussed if a factory pick up option was available since we’d be in Georgia in February anyway. Unfortunately 13 weeks in and the car isn’t even allocated yet.

Kia’s inability to build cars on any sort of decent schedule is not helping their brand at all. All of my family and friends who are in the market keep asking if we’ve received the car yet. They simply laugh when I say it’s still at least 3-4 months out.

The demand is extremely high and un-anticipated. The factory works 24/7. They produce other vehicles out of that facility including the Sorento and Optima and the output is 340,000 vehicles per year. Plus the vehicles are produced there are not only for the USA. They do offer factory tours. I don't think that "inability to build cars on any sort of decent schedule" is the issue. My two cents.

You have an October order... and you are whining about the wait. EVERYONE with an order is in same situation. February or March seems reasonable. My April order came in 4 months - that would be around February for you.

Some folks have put in a ton of time to find their Telluride by using the production spreadsheet on the forum, filtering it to their desired trim and calling dealers with recent allocations. They've actually found their desired vehicles this way and purchased them. If you didn't / don't want to wait then go this route.

Else there are plenty of other vehicles from other manufacturers out there to buy. Kia is selling nearly 7,000 per month in the hottest U.S. vehicle segment (3-row midsize SUVs) - and Telluride sales still put them in 9th place behind the competition! The American market just can't seem to get enough of these types of vehicles. Kia is producing them faster than they planned and as fast as they can... they aren't Toyota or Honda yet.
