I'm guessing this above... they had someone back out or had an inventory car they ordered coming. Since your order was so long ago they're saying this is it. Figuring you will give up and just take it. Then they may still have your prestige coming, and want to tack on a $10k set of BS add-ons and sell it to someone else.

Either that or they are just that incompetent.

So just looked at DTROW5's post history and I see that they called the other day to ask about their order. I'm leaning more to the oh-$hit we screwed up and never ordered this persons vehicle. Call back shortly later, something close is coming in.

I'd be curious what the price you have listed for options, etc.. is on the order? I'd assume that's all on your order contract. If it's a little low like around $44-45k which is around the price of the one inbound or if it's more like $47-48k?

Well, took the VIN the dealer gave me and looked up the window sticker. We that was a real kick in the shorts. We "ordered" an SX-P, Dark Moss, Black Nappa Leather. Turns out they ordered an SX no Prestige, Dark Moss with Butterscotch seats.

The whole reason why we ordered it was for the Prestige package. All throughout the 6 months of waiting, we kept asking if it was a Prestige package and they kept reaffirming that it was. My only hope is that they gave me the wrong VIN. Can anyone tie 5XYP5DHCXLG073736 to the order # IA006-190726J004, just to confirm they aren't trying to switch one out on us.

Unfortunately, they haven't had a vehicle with your specs built since your order - so either they are just incompetent, or they never put your order into KFOS when they had a chance at an SX/P allocation. They had two SX/P builds in January according to spreadsheet - ask if those were sold orders too and when they were ordered. If they weren't, then they weren't following directions from Kia. I'd ask them when they can put your order into KFOS like you specified - will have to be in February. If they can't do that, I'd hunt via the spreadsheet. But, now most will be sold orders... so it could be hard. Ask a dealer to call you first if someone backs out.

It also doesn't make sense because @T-Pick said they ordered from the same dealership on 8/19 (provided an order number - see his post history) and it was built on 11/27. So they must have forgotten to put your vehicle in KFOS for some reason... his was an SXP also - Moss/brown.

User @Quesarasara also ordered on 8/24 a gravity grey/black SXP and he/she is still waiting with no update.

They had a SWP/Black SXP and a Ebony/Black SXP built on 1/14 and 1/10 respectively - find out about those orders. Someone likely dropped the ball on yours.

@Ericlittle200 ordered a few weeks before mine and his car is finally coming this week, so I’m hopeful mine is being built any day now...

I watched my order being keyed into the system back in August. Chose my options right on the screen, approved all the specs before he hit the final button with a flourish. My salesman called a few days later to tell me my order was accepted. If the order WASN’T placed, they are certainly putting on a good show...

Findlay Kia Las Vegas ( closest I could find to So Cal that was selling at MSRP). August 24th. I finally got them to tell me my car was allocated 3 weeks ago but still waiting for a VIN. I will see what happens.

Incompetent is what it was. Talked with the dealer this morning and the VIN we were told was our original order. Salesman seemed shocked it was processed through the "old ordering system". It appears when the order was placed, they opted for the Black interior which they thought was black leather. However, they didn't specify the seat color so it was left a non specific option, so KIA just picked one I guess. Butterscotch wasn't even discussed as an option when we ordered. Still dont understand how the Prestige package was left off. The 2 or 3 people we had dealt with in the 6 months no longer work there, so this guy really couldn't articulate what happened, but did say "they did not process the order properly" and took blame Whatever that means. So got our deposit back and put on the priority list for the monthly allotments for now.

Also, anyone have any recommendations for dealerships for ordering and getting what you wanted within 200 or so miles of Omaha? H&H and Edward's aren't going to do it for me. Probably back to step one.

I haven’t checked Kansas City or Des Moines dealerships, but HH Kia has far out paced Edwards, Lincoln Kia, and Grand Island Kia in Telluride sales. I’d look at ordering from Kansas City or Des Moines so have any luck with faster allocations.

Reached out to the dealer today. The ETA got pulled in from 2/22 to 2/16! No VIN yet. She sent me a snapshot that had details of other vehicles orderd/allocated to their dealership. The ones with ETA of 1/31 were all TN, the ones with ETA of 2/6 had a status of VA with a VIN, the ones with ETA of 2/10 had status of FA with VIN. Hopefully mine will have a VIN in a week's time!

I'm in Minnesota. We just had a VIN get created on 1/25 and the ETA is 2/29. I'm sure it's different ETA depending where in the county the dealership is located.

I haven’t checked Kansas City or Des Moines dealerships, but HH Kia has far out paced Edwards, Lincoln Kia, and Grand Island Kia in Telluride sales. I’d look at ordering from Kansas City or Des Moines so have any luck with faster allocations.

I vowed never to buy another car at H&H after my last one...maybe I should have just made a deal with the devil and saved myself some weeks of Heartache...

The dealer said it would be 6 to 8 months to deliver, and after browsing this forum I am beginning to believe him. At some point though, won't the line stop producing the 2020s and start making the 2021s? I figure on my timeline I will probably be into the period where 2021s are beginning to be delivered. Would I still receive a 2020? Just confused on how the order process works, and instruction would be appreciated.

We don't know when 2021 will start to roll off assembly line. But, yes, that is likely the case. Napleton's Elgin doesn't have the greatest track record with deliveries on the forum... you might want to consider placing an order with a higher volume dealership. Several members are still waiting for their SXP orders from Napleton's since August. We shall see how it works out. 8 months seems reasonable with them... ask how many SXP orders are in front of you - they only get 1-2 per month.

Here is my very lazy answer to your questions.
Since you have to wait six to eight months (which is true) for your car to arrive, spend that time reading this forum. You will learn tons!

Des Moines sells above MSRP. I have not talked with them in a while, but a friend of mine a couple months ago inquired about ordering an SX from them and they were at $3k markup I believe if he bought one on the lot. If he chose to have one ordered they told him the markup would be what ever their current markup was at the time it arrived and it would be more then $3k..........

I ordered an received an SX with no markup from Mcgrath KIA in Cedar Rapids. However they may have a markup now, supposedly they will drop the markup if your actual residence is in Iowa, at least the salesman claimed that when I picked mine up and said they were now doing markups for out of state buyers.

I have heard good things about Mike Finnin Kia in Dubuque, however that was a number of months ago so I don't know there current prices.

He ordered on 8/28 I believe (if my memory works). I'm 11/20. Believe both of us are waiting on SXP's. Ask them for the order number. It should be something along the lines of IL072YYMMDDJ001 or something along those lines. BTW IL072 is the Elgin dealer code, not IL074. Also ask and see if you can get how many SXP orders are ahead of you (I've not been lucky with getting a straight answer, but what the hell...give it a shot and let us know).

They told me 4-5 months, but expect late March (so roughly 4 months from when I ordered in Nov). Yeah that ain't happening. Based on the VIN lookup site and spreadsheets it looks like they now have 8 VIN's created in Jan. 0 of which are SXP. Better than the other day when only 4 were showing as being produced thus far in Jan.

Spreadsheet shows 2 SX FWD for Muncie. 1 Silver on 10/29 and a Gravity Grey on 12/14. Hopefully that means that being 2nd in line is now 1st in line for an SX FWD with that VIN created on 12/14. Sounds like not a whole lot of SX FWD allocations go to northern states unfortunately for you. But maybe yours will be in the next batch of allocations in a few weeks? Hopefully, just all depends on what the Kia button pushers have decided to allocate.

Jason and team seem to be pretty on top of things, and communication seems far beyond what many of the rest of us are getting, so you're in good hands.
