Hi there, I live in San Francisco bay area and I am looking to buy a SX-P or EX-P AWD. But local dealers are asking 6k-10k over MSRP. I am only willing to pay 1k over MSRP + transportation. I do need the car with 1-2 weeks though. Not sure if that is possible. If that is not realistic I will have to go with
Palisade or other options. Any suggestions or dealer recommendation? Thanks!
There should be availability for an EX-P.
Unfortunately, your requirements do not appear realistic at this time for the SX-P. For the SX-P, your only hope is to be able to get a deposit on an incoming unit - that is 1-2 weeks out - but that's like finding a needle in a haystack. Not sure how much effort you want to put into your search, but here's what I would do.
(1) Visit the website:
Telluride Lookup or
TellyStats (the latter you can search by zip code radius - click "view" next to cars...) and put your desired options in and filter the sheet. Then, call / email all those dealers listed and ask about the specific VINs listed. Most will be pre-sold or require a markup. The "
VIN creation date" generally reflects the build date - after that it goes to transport. From GA to CA - I'd assume 2 weeks? So, even a
VIN generated today probably won't be in California in 1-2 weeks. You can expand radius and call all those dealers listed... if you're willing to pay transport, that helps. All you can do is ask.
(2) Same information as above is available on a Google sheet which you can also filter - search "production stats"
(3) A few dealers on this forum
@MichaelCapitolKia,
@Mweiland,
@StephenCantrelle,
@DonovanCastillo ,
@Jason Fox,
@aaroneast might have a customer back out of a sold order for an SX-P - but even then it's likely to go to another waiting customer first. They generally post in the "Dealer Inventory" section and SX-P available sell within 30 mins or so. They might have an EX-P to send your way.
(4) The closest dealer to you who has advertised on this forum is Michael at Capitol Kia San Jose (
@MichaelCapitolKia) but I haven't read a post from him in a few weeks - you could try calling their dealership. You can click on his username and see his post history to get contact information.
Any other tips / thoughts from members? Just my perspective at this point.
